The Marlies In Context - A Playoff Primer

Took my son to the game yesterday. Came back 5 mins late after the first intermission and Hershey was up 2-0. Comeback came up shy, but it was a Pretty dissapointing result considering the season they had.
As mentioned before here, goaltending was their archilles heel.
Leivo and Connor Carrick really stood out in yesterday's game to me. I think they both will get long looks at training camp and I'd bet Carrick makes the team out of camp. ...Oh well, I hope management got enough of a playoff run to make some determinations about certain players , even though I'm sure they would have liked to have seen better goaltending and more leadership on this team.

I think I'd almost rather this kind of result from the season that they had.

Teaches them that nothing is a given even after killing it all year.

You can blame goaltending for maybe the blowout game, but you're not going to win too many games only scoring 2 goals.

In my mind, looking at the results, it's the offense that let them down.  Nylander didn't dominate other than in the one game it seems...Looks like Connor Carrick was quite the horse though.

I agree that this ending will serve as a huge teachable moment for our very young team. Now they know what it will take to prepare and get to the next level. The regular season grind is when you develop consistency with the structure and chemistry with your linemates; the playoffs is where you want to bring it all together and push each other through.

I thought Justin Peters was more the difference than our apparently sputtering offense. 29 year old journeyman goalie peaks at the right time, gets the right bounces, and thems the breaks.

Not getting the puck to Nylander in shooting position is lame. Arcobello, who was lights out all year, still had chances but nothing bounced in. Our backend when Carrick was off was too slow.
