The "Mr. T" Man of the Match 2022-23 Edition: Once more into the breach

Nylander
Woll

Congrats to Nylander's 40th, Acciari's 100th, too bad that Marner and Matthews didn't hit their historical marks.

Also a special thank you to Leafs's video coaches. They were on fire tonight.

Knies didn't looked out of place it all.

RoR: please Dubas resign him, he and Gio were by far the best deadlines additions in years...

Some observations:

We used a helluva lot of players!!

MVP: Mitch Marner, but not a slam dunk ? Samsonov had a terrific year.

Murray helped carry the team before he got hurt ... his 10 MotM (Wins) votes speak to that.

The goaltending overall was far superior to last year.  Both main goalies racked up lots of accolades, and both Woll and K?llgren did all right in limited duty.

Matthews not finishing in Top 5 in points ... wow, who would have predicted that?  His two-way game was great, though, and he still managed 40 goals.  A superstar's "off year."

Nylander and Tavares continued to be consistent producers.  Kerfoot and Bunting had plenty of criticism from pundits but they were the two best forwards outside of the big guys.  ZAR had a fine year; so did J?rnkrok.

Much-maligned Holl did all right in the voting, and deserved to.  OTOH Brodie disappeared from our collective radar.  Rielly had a down year.

Matthews and ZAR having the same amount of MotM's in wins is pretty wild.

Yep.  Matthews never really carried games on his back this year.

Missing 24 games to injury might not have helped but I'd still call Brodie our best defenceman this season by a pretty decent margin. His game obviously doesn't exactly translate well to this.

Bolded very true.  He's a workhorse, not a showhorse.

Agree. And Holl, like nylander in the past, is the hero of the counter-narrative, so that tends to move votes.

Reliable, well regarded defensive minute eating players aren't going to stand out generally. It's almost like two votes are needed - top6+goalie and bottom6+defense.

This was fun though, thanks Z.

I'm actually shocked Murray has more MoTM wins than Samsonov.  Would not have expected that.

Thank you ZBBM for doing this again.  I know it's lots of work to keep up with.  I don't always vote, usually forget and just go to bed.

Thank you again.

You all are most welcome.  I enjoy doing it.  It does provide some insights into our collective eyeball tests.

I'll clean out the Excel and re-load for what I hope is a long playoff run.

Yes thanks ZBBM...
