The "Mr. T" Man of the Match Thread, 2011-12

Man, it's hard to leave Gus out of the accolades with a SO but -- I'd call that a team-defense SO.  One of the best defensive games I've seen us play in a long time.

So, I'll go Kulemin MotM and have to give the HM to a defensemen, and out of a lot of good performances I pick Komisarek.  Props to Grabovski who was flying all night long, and to the rest of the D.  And to Kadri, who played smart and threw a couple of hits to boot.  And of course to Gus.

If he didn't make a half-dozen high quality saves in the late in the 1st period and in the final 6 minutes of the game I might agree to leave him out but he came up huge and made the saves that the team needed him to make when they had some lapses in their otherwise solid game

Gustavsson
HM Kulemin

Accolades to Grabovski, Komisarek, Franson, the rest of the team Steckel was big on the draws tonight.

Gustavsson jumps ahead of Kessel in overall points.  Kessel had been leading almost all season.

Well, when Goose gets three straight MotMs in wins, thats a lot of points going his way right now :P

With 2 SO, 93 of 96 shots saved a SV% of .975 you cant go in any other way...

He also has amazing 2012 stats:

4 wins, 1.51 GAA and a solid .950 SV%

I was going to go with Grabs and Kulemin, but their play really dropped off as the game went on I think. So I'll go with Franson for MOTM and Gus for HM.

Franson was terrific tonight. I've missed the past few games but I've heard he's really stepped his play up and that was evident tonight. Gus kept the Leafs in the game even though he was responsible for the first goal. He made a number of key saves to give the Leafs a chance.

I was going to go with Grabovski MotM and Franson HM.  I think I'll stick with it, but I see your logic.

Kulemin, OTOH, is beginning to play like Ponikarovsky.  Frustrating.
