Why does everyone give it to reimer? Would he be man of the match if the leafs lost 3-1?

I'd guess not. But then he'd have given up 3 goals instead of none and I think it's the whole not giving up any goals thing that have most people going that way.

I'm referring to the fact that the penguins hit 3 posts.  So it is largely luck that those three goals were not scored. I vote mom based primarily on skill not luck.

A little bit one way and yes, they could have gone in. A little way the opposite way and they completely miss the net.

Well those 3 posts don't even count as shots, they're no more 'lucky' than if an opposing player had shot straight into Reimers chest or 5 feet wide. IIRC, at least one of those posts was a crazy hockey jeebus kind of deflection then post so maybe that's lucky, maybe not, I bet the Pens don't look at it that way.

It kind of reminds me of how we define success at the end of a non playoff season and I go back and forth because I can also see how the team has developed or changed but there's no denying that missing the playoffs, no matter how close a team might be, is unsuccessful.

Reimer simply couldn't have had a better result and he played the whole game. Maybe in cases like this where we acknowledge a motm honour for a goalie where he didn't really steal the game is more of a team accolade, still.

My man of the match has to be Reimer.

My HM goes a bit different route: Luke Schenn.  I thought that he looked poised, composed, and really strong last night.  Way more mobile than he's been this year and his first passes were tape to tape, like in his rookie year and for most of last year.  Hope he keeps it up.

Yeah, Reimer and Kessel.

I feel like everyone should deserve a mention. Reimer and all 19 skaters.

Connolly was a healthy scratch, right?
