Just in the interest of being contentious I think anyone who said Andersen last night sort of highlights why it's tricky to measure goalies vs. skaters in something like this. I think Andersen was pretty good last night but he wasn't incredible and I think a lot of guys had games that rise above "pretty good" in context.
 
Such is the perils of casting a vote in the ever contentious TMLfans Man of the Match thread, where the stakes may be zero but the reward? Also zero.
 
Andersen stuck out for me a bit because he had to pull out a penalty shot save right off the bat, and weathered a 5-on-3 (with big thanks to Polak and Zaitsev) against Malkin-Kessel-Crosby, on top of making a couple of breakaway chances throughout the game look routine.


Here's a way omgitsdomi has been trying to assess how a player did in any given game. It's a bit offense-driven and simplified, so it doesn't quite capture the nuances of special teams, goaltending things like shot location, or defensive play. It still tracks very well.
