It's a good sign when you have 6 players getting MotM votes.

Although I will say that ? IMHO ? as nice as Campbell  getting the SO is, I think it's mostly due to the excellent overall team defense.  Did McDavid even have one quality scoring chance?  If so, I can't remember it.

And that was the only shot on goal for McDavid.

For some reason i thought that was Vesey when I watched it live.

Barabanov, Vesey, and Engvall all had pretty bad giveaways in a short period of time IIRC, so you might just be thinking of a different one.

Haha, yeah Vesey's was even better lol. Other then that though Barabanov looks a lot better the last 3 games. Came close again.

Perhaps. I watched the Vesey one develop and actually said "don't pass it there" before he even moved it.

I just watched the clip again.  That was awful on several levels.

Vesey and Barabanov's giveaways were part of the breakout system being poorly executed. Defense retrieves the puck and pushes it up the wall to the strong side winger who bumps it to the middle for someone going North with speed (usually the centre or designated carrier). This is the blueline version of what we normally see from corner-to-halfwall-to slot and out.

Barabanov/Vesey definitely needed to be aware of who was where, especially as lefties who have to play this backhand (shoulder check before engaging at the boards), but if the receivers are all out of position as was the case with Rielly for Barabanov, it's hard to pull this off at game speed in that muscle-memory way.

100%

I actually think that Rielly had an opportunity to play Barabanov's pass and let it go. Almost like he expected the winger to be behind him.

X2. Barabanov's was on Rielly as well.
