What a horrible summer for forest fires in Northern Manitoba.

That is nasty.  Let's hope you don't need to grab a hose and firefight.

So far the fires are under control and they have about 100 volunteer fire fighters helping out, looks like I won't be needed to help fight it.

On another note, just did a spill response exercise out in the water, cleaning up a mock oil spill, I rarely get in a boat as I do not like them that much, and right now I feel the room moving around and nauseous lol

Quite random but I've come off my stance that "ginger" is a slur against red-heads. I'm not sure I love the word but I guess I can live with it.

Yay!!! You must know, the Weasley family members are my favourite Potter characters. A lot of us dye our hair various shades of ginger cause we have ginger envy! I adore 'red' hair, in all its shades. My son's best friend is a ginger, and we call him Gingie, he loves it. My 'other' son :) (I keep telling MY son that he's replaceable! There's an upgrade right there! :)  )

I understand that some people may think it's a slur, but not here in my house. It's a term of affection and outright ENVY! :)

I'm just gonna throw it out there, I think redhead chicks are gorgeous. Especially Ygritte in Game of Thrones. I have a tendency to call redhead girls "Wildlings" now due to the show haha.

There's also a PG-13 word I use but I'll keep it off the forums haha.

I was at lunch with my friend for his birthday and his wife and some of the other guys were referring to him as "ginger" at time during the meal. It made me think of you.

I saw something about that on HNIC a while back. The commentators said it to Cory Schneider after a Canucks game... and he said that he and the Sedin twins hate being called that.

Its annoying being the tallest person at work, especially since I work at a Generating Station....the amount of cobwebs I walk into because they are too high for anyone else to walk into, is crazy.

And the season ticket subscriber "gifts" that they send every year just keep getting better.....
This year along with the tickets they sent a Winter Classic scarf and a cheesy plastic Winter Classic travel mug.
2nd time in the last 3 years they have sent a scarf.....although they are failing to give me a warm and fuzzy feeling!
On the bright side, they have finally reduced the prices for preseason games, making them more in line with Marlies prices - which the games may as well be.

Yeah, I'm sure the cheaper pre-season tickets will make up for the 2.5% across-the-board price hike and this new bullsh*t "dynamic pricing" policy ::)

I found a job I loved in my previous job... then I got downsized. I managed to jump to a different company before my end date. Two years later, now my current position is being downsized.

BLAAAAHHHHHH.

Sherry got up for work this morning and our car won't start. Jake and I went out to try it and no luck. So Jake/Sherry borrow Sarah's car so they can get Sherry in to work. They got out on 401 and had to stop suddenly and Jake hit the car ahead of him - likely $2000 in front end damage. He was charged with careless, $500 fine, 6 pts. As a new driver, he'll lose his licence as they only have 6 pts on a G! licence. We'll obviously fight it.  Yeah, that's my morning.

Rick man, I'm sorry, that totally sucks. Definitely and absolutely fight it to get it lowered and hopeful not lose too many points or any points at all. I know it's costly but you may want to consider getting a points guy to take care of this.

Our son had an accident 4 mths after he passed his G1 road test. Going to the dentist, making a left (with his sister in the car) and it was a yellow light, guy didn't stop and hit them on the front passenger side (close to the passenger door). Totalled his car, daugher had a sore shoulder and he was charged with an "improper left hand turn". He didn't drive for 4 mths after that as he was too scared. He ended up getting the ticket thrown out because we fought it and the officer didn't show up to the first date and then the next date was almost a yr later and when it came around, we filed some papers because it was over a yr old.

Long story short, he totally lucked out in the end but he did learn a lesson. That was 2 yrs ago and he is a much better driver now, more careful and concientious. He passed his G2 road test back in July (went for a few more driving lessons) and then did his test. The worst thing about all of it, is your insurance.

In the end, both of them were not hurt and are still here and that is ALL that matters.
