The Official TFC/Soccer thread

TFC advance to the knockout stage with a 0-0 snooze fest against New England.  Have to say 100% humidity at 9AM in the Florida heat would slog anyone down.

Was fun watching Ritchie Laryea on Sunday against Columbus.  Assisted beautifully on two goals and then scored this unbelievable goal.  Watch his footwork:

TFC starting to really connect the dots.  Beat Columbus and then Phili yesterday and looked very good in both.  These kids Laryea and Akinola are great and Pozuelo is putting on a MVP season.
Altidore left with some hamstring tightness, his play of late is a little concerning.

Toronto wins again against New England, 1-0 with another beautiful goal by Akinola.  They are now sitting 3 points in front of everyone. Perhaps another Supporters Shield this year.  And without any support from Bradley or Altidore.

After losing two injury riddled games in a row, TFC bounce back with 4 returnees to the team and win 2-1 against New York. Akinola returns and scores a beaut, followed by Ponzuela scoring on a penalty, which was set up by no other than Laryea.  2nd game in a row played in the pouring rain.
They still have a chance to claim the Supporters Shield.  Last game of season coming us and then the playoffs.  As I don't watch the NFL, it's going to go dead until NHL resumes.

Last game of the season, Sunday 8th for TFC before the playoffs, 3:30PM EST.  Playing Red Bulls, they have a kid named Clark on their team, excellent young striker.

Playoffs start for TFC on Tuesday against Nashville. Let's hope for a long run in this sports drought.  I am not a big NFL fan.

Seattle Sounders came back from a 2-0 deficit with 15 minutes to play with 3 unanswered goals to win with a minute left in stoppage time.  Money team, will play in the final against the Columbus Crew on Saturday, should be a great game.

any takers on city for champs league? PSG looked scary good but i think City can create better than Bayern.

Was disappointed with their performance against Dortmund, Leeds and Chelsea in FA cup.

Well that was closer than it needed to be, but thankfully another tournament has passed without England winning it as Italy won the one year delayed Euro 2020

I do like that the UK is supposedly a unified country of four nations while knowing that not a single person in Scotland, Wales or NI were rooting for England today.

Thank God I was born into an Italian family. At least Italy wins something for us every so often. I couldn't imagine being a Leafs fan + England fan. That would be a new kind of hell

It?s the one thing that almost unanimously unites both parts of Ireland as well  ;D

I made the mistake of joining my English friend for the game. Should've leaned into the Italian heritage!

Going to the UEFA Super Cup final tomorrow between Chelsea and Villareal here in Belfast.

13,000 fans in attendance so the biggest sport crowd we'll have had here since the pandemic began.

I've been to a couple of local football games in the same stadium but the crowds have been restricted to around 2000 maximum so will be interesting to see how it goes.

I fully expect Chelsea to win very comfortably.
