By adding a Brewer and a Horton, I can't help but think the plan is to recreate the defense corps from the 1964-65 Maple Leafs team.

Maybe a couple more can be acquired before draft day after the playoffs are over.
Yep, I'm expecting more moves around then.
I mean really at this point can the Leafs go in to next season with Lupul, Bozak, Phanuef and Kessel on this team?
I can't see it.
Of those four, I think Phaneuf and Kessel need to go before next season. They both symbolize what's wrong with the current Leafs, while still having potential value for other teams. Phaneuf does seem to care and is a good but overpaid and miscast defenseman. Kessel has tons of talent but his attitude seems to have slipped. Both will be too old when the rebuild is complete.
Bozak and Lupul aren't part of the future either, but I think their importance and the urgency of moving them is secondary.
Nonis has done well in ridding the Leafs of the Clarkson albatross, but if he's to make a case for himself being Leaf GM through the rebuild, he needs to prove it by getting maximum value for those two players.
