Trade deadline moves

Who has real trade value? Is Andreas Johnsson worth much? If trading Auston could get you a top RHD, and thus make the team more complete, do you do it?

Are you insane? There isn't a D man in the lesgue I'd trade Auston for and getting rid of him would create a huge void up front.

Well AM34 is looking like an Alexandre Daigle these days and while clearly stacked up front, in the back end they are not. For how many more years should we have patience?

You're being ridiculous. In his slump, he has 1 goal and 7 assists in his last 10 games. I've certainly heard of worse slumps. Considering that, on the season, he has 42 points in 33 games, I'd say he's doing alright. He also did so while battling through injuries.

Matthews will play at least 7 or 8 years for us, win two Cups and then be traded to the Coyotes for half of Scottsdale.

What interest would Scottsdale have in an NHL player at that time??

In 7 or 8 years the population of the region is going to expand hugely, mostly from people from the North who love hockey. As long as Gary B has breath in his body there is going to be a team in AZ believe me. They are still talking about a new arena in a place that makes sense.

For some reason my tablet will not put smilies in place. I think the Coyotes are about to have their last chance in AZ and if they get rescued it will be the Natives who do it with a new arena. They are a bad investment but I really don't care as It's not my money. But when you can't fill a building with seriously reduced rates sooner or later someone yells Uncle. And I've been a Coyote's supporter for 10 years.

Agree. He's doing just fine and getting chances with the linemates he has. No offense to any player but Marner and Matthews are producing at the same points per game pace. Biggest difference? Marner plays with JT exclusively and Matthews has been saddled lately with Nylander. And as good as Kappy and Johnsson have been at times, they aren't close to JT. I wish Babs would dbl shift Matthews here and there with JT and Marner whether slumping or not.
While all isn't rosey in Leafland, the sky certainly isn't falling. Teams, players slump from time to time. This will pass to.

Let's hope for a better playoff performance this year. 7 games played with only 2 pts doesn't cut it.
No doubt he struggled but he was a 20 year old going up against Chara and Bergeron for the most part. Two of the leagues best shutdown players. Go check the stats on what Stamkos and Kucherov did against them last year..I'll save you the trouble..Stamkos had 4 pts in 5 games. Sounds ok? Well not so fast. He had 1 even strength point (goal), 1 empty net PP goal and 2 pp assists in 5 games. Kucherov had 1 goal, 1 assist in 5 games, none at even strength. So I'm willing to cut him some slack for that.
The year before against Washington, he lead the team in points and scored in the last 4 consecutive games.

I honestly can't believe what I'm reading these days. At least in the shit years we knew we had to rebuild and be patient. Now that we've been spoiled by a jumpstarted rebuild we're complaining about being patient after a cold streak. It's getting nutty around here.

Friedman says that teams were asking about Kapanen and the Leafs said "no sale".

Muzzin and Gudas are both mentioned as possible trade options. Muzzin's a lefty but he has 1 year left on his contract so there's a potential Gardiner replacement for next year if the Leafs can fit his cap hit ($4mil) on the books.
