Turris to Ottawa

Turris better get his head straight and quick.  This looks like the kind of trade we could be regretting very soon, and for a very long time.

Hey, I think there's an outside chance he still can prove why he was drafted so high. Like I said, it may (MAY) wind up very good for you guys. All you can do is hope though, right? Big gamble.

I'm gonna go look up 5 year old scouting reports to make myself feel better.

pretty bad trade by Ottawa imo, not even sure if I would have traded Rundblad for Turris...

Might turn out good for Ottawa, Turris could thrive in a more open system. Hefty price though, didn't think it would be that high.

Turris could look cool in a KISS costume

why's there such a hate on for Turris? What's he done?

I wouldn't really say there's a hate for Turris, but it's what he hasn't done that are making people think this is a bad trade.

The emergence of Cowen and Karlson gives them the depth to try something risky like this.

If Turris develops, Spezza and Turris could make a good 1-2 punch and centre.

Nothing, that's the problem.

Held out for more money/demanded a trade from Phoenix with all of 46 career points to his name.

He didn't really hold out though. He didn't have a contract. As a RFA it's well within his rights not to sign with a team.

To Murray's credit while his judgement with old players is somewhat hit and miss his judgement with young players for the most part is pretty reliable.

His judgement at the draft has been good. His judgement when it comes to trades has generally been . . . well, good for Leaf fans. ;D
Yeah I mean, it's not like Filatov was a home run exactly.

Turris will prob do significantly better for Ottawa than Phoenix.  He is skilled and skates fairly well just seemed to have a lot of trouble playing Tippett system.  Phoenix system does not allow for much creativity and that's partially what has held Turris back.  No idea if he will flourish in Ottawa but he is a better player than has been shown in stats so far in career.  I would think he is well aware that not agreeing to contract was not best move but I will say that he never looked like a sulking player while playing in a Coyotes uniform. Ultimately he got trade he wanted but I think his rep was hurt a little.  Good luck in Ottawa.

Theres something about a young player with less than 50 points in his career demanding and dictating the terms of what/where he plays in the NHL that really makes me sour.

Pass.

I am not defending Turris because I do not know behind the scene facts.  Did he quietly ask for trade and was refused??  I assume you feel the same way about Lindros?

Again, Turris wasn't contractually bound to the Coyotes. All he did was, as a RFA, not want to sign with the team that held his rights.
