Unsigned Draft Picks

Watching Leafs unsigned 2017 draft choice Fedor Gordeev at the Memorial Cup this weekend, I was wondering if the Leafs have any plans on signing him or other draft picks Ryan McGregor (2017) or Dakota Joshua (2014) before their rights expire?

Who knows what the plan is? Gordeev is the only recognizable name and he's a big boy... 6'6" 225lbs. Joshua's numbers have gone down(close) for the last 3 years in a row and McGregor was captain of Sarnia. No impressive numbers for him as a centre but great character I'd imagine.

Meh.

I know they had some hope for Gordeev but the little I heard about him and even less about the other two, meh is right

I suspect this means we are in line for a bigger deal with Minnesota deeper into the off season.

Is Zaitsev buddies with Gordeev and this is why he asked for a trade? Things that make you go hmmm

I hope good things happen for Gordeev, seems a bit strange as he is so young and so large and fast.

I have to trust the Leaf management about this one.  Good we got a 7th for him.

Must be something they dont like or think he can become. He is a big boy though. Good luck to him.

He was what a 5th round pick initially? Was always a long shot to turn into a player.  Maybe he turns into something with Minnesota but I guess the Leafs decided there were too many guys ahead of him

Yup he was always a long shot and they only have 50 pro contracts correct? No need to tie up one woth an extreme longshot.

Another of Hunter?s no-hope swings from the land of giants.

I?d have more faith in Dubas with a 7th than Hunter with a 5th.

In saying all that, Gordeev has a lot of tools for a big man, specifically slick wheels and decent offensive touch, I wouldn?t be stunned to see him on a bottom pair somewhere in a few years.

Come on now, that's a little pessimistic. He can probably be at least a middle pair on an AHL team one day.

Well shows what a true genius Hunter was at the draft, what picked over 5 or 6 guys who were at least 6'5" or more and the only one with an outside chance is Rasanen.  I guess he is now a long shot as well.
