Recieved a call today about the job I applied for and was offered the position. Looks like I am moving to Winnipeg  ;D ;D ;D ;D

congrats to you I suppose :-) Though I'll miss the Gillam weather/polar bear stories :P

I will be able to visit the zoo and the new polar bear exhibit often now, I haven't been there once yet, it's been too hot out when I have been in Winnipeg for vacation this year to be able to goto the zoo :(

I will be working up north still, 300 kms North-West of Gillam, at the newest generating station in the province, only 1 of the 3 units are online right now, working at this station is 8 days on, 6 off, which is why I will be able to live in Winnipeg, so the weather stories will still be frequent :P

I was hanging out with some people recently and I ran across a guy, perfectly fit and healthy adult male, who just seemed to have absolutely no physical perception of how to throw a baseball. Like, his arm got all bunched up and he sort of pushed it like a shot put. Amid the crap he was getting it came out that he'd just never learned how.

How is that even possible? I mean, I get that not everybody plays little league but to not even know the basic mechanics of how to throw a ball? Who grows up like that? Is soccer to blame?

Anyways, it fascinated me.

Depends on the nationality.  I would have never played or even liked hockey if my friends didn't force me to play it one summer day back when I was a kid.  I was very resistant to it.  I only had eyes for baseball then.  And being a foreigner probably doesn't help with no athletic background from the culture.  So, I could see that happening, but growing up in Canada, it would seem to be a bit out of the ordinary I suppose.

Does it though? Yeah, not every country plays baseball but most every country has hand grenades.

Right, because when I was a little kid and before I came to Canada, we would lob hand grenades for fun.  :P

Even if they had access to hand grenades, have you seen how people throw those hand grenades in the movies?  They are more like hook shots then a baseball throw.

Very cool.  I'd be interested to see what you come up with.  Share a youtube vid or whatever medium when you are done.

My wife and I, while not really good or anything, started taking vocal lessons just for the heck of it at the beginning of this year.  We love karaoke so that's one of the reasons why we did it.  No aspirations for going on American Idol or anything, but just to improve on our ability for singing between us and in front of friends.  So far we've seen a marked improvement in our vocal range and volume. Hopefully we continue to get better as there is a lot of room for improvement still.
