I think it reeks of an old school thinking move similar to the David Clarkson signing.
Rick Nash did not look good during the series. Adding a player that did not look good during the series to an existing cast of players that did not look good during the series will not result in an improvement.
I disagree about Nash not looking good. I thought his size really gave our defence difficulties. He didn't score but I think he had a lot of pressure while he was out there. I think he'd be an upgrade on Hyman alongside Matthews.
You just have to realize that he's turning 34 years old and isn't a legitimate 1st line winger anymore so his contract has to reflect that. I wouldn't give him 6x6 or anything but a 3 year deal at $5mil? I'd think about it. I really have no idea what other teams will be offering him though, and Nash's history suggests that he wouldn't be very interested in playing in Toronto anyway.
