Loving the tourny so far.. I am one who finds soccer/football very exciting. Especially the World Cup

There's a soccer tournament going on?

(I'm italian background)

England's Kane scores three in a 6-1 rout of Panama.

Evander Kane is a scoring machine... England and Belgium look good but neither has faced a powerhouse... Should be a great tourny of 16

This World Cup has been great. Completely mad. Obviously started out with Italy and the Netherlands not even qualifying but now you're seeing the likes of Spain go out to Russia, Germany not make it out of the groups.

All the top seeds have also ended up in one side of the draw so only one of Brazil, France or Belgium will make the final while leaving the other half open for Russia, Croatia, Sweden, Switzerland (the top ranked), Colombia or (hopefully not) England to make the final.

There's been some brilliant games too, France 4-3 Argentina probably being the best with some incredible goals.

The France/Argentina game and the Spain/Russia game are absolute counterpoints when it comes to enjoying soccer.

The France game was back and forth, high offence, high skill, high entertainment - from two talented teams that wanted to outscore the other.

The Spain/Rus game consisted of one team that wanted to score, and the other who just wanted to kill an hour and a half and get to a shootout. Result - completely boring frustration, compounded by the fact that it worked.

Ask the Germans about Russia?s ability to win ugly.

Belgium v Japan another great game. Japan get 2-0 up after 10 minutes of the 2nd half with 2 great goals. Belgium drag it back to 2-2. 3.30 into 4 minutes added on injury time Japan have a corner, Belgium get the ball and break down the field to score with 10 seconds left and go into the quarter finals.

Gutted for Japan who played way better than anyone expected but brilliant game and fantastic winning goal

This years World Cup has been brilliant. I picked Belgium to win it and thought my pick was gone yesterday... Great games.... Pulling for England today

What does anybody think of Neymar Jr.'s antics?  He's had a habit of embellishing his injuries.  He was at it again against Mexico.  It's understood that the opposing Mexican player came over to him, retrieved the ball all the while stepping on Neymar''s ankle.  All this during stoppage in play on the pitch.  Though no foul was initially called before this ensued, Neymar suddenly started screaming in pain.  One could see right through his feigning and over reaction.

Much to the consternation of many in the soccer world, and eapecially the losing side's coach Juan Carlos Osorio who had this to say:

"I think it?s a shame for football. We wasted a lot of time because of one player. We stopped too often. I think this is a very negative example for the world of football and all the children who are following this game..."

I find Neymars antics embarrassing.. I cant stand embellishers... to relay it to hockey that is the one thing that would drive me insane about Darcy Tucker. it seemed once a game he was almost dead.. No room for acting like this Neymar

Sorry but I have to fully disagree. Spain did not want to score at ALL. They had 75% of the possession in the first half and have FOUR?!?!?!?!?! touches in the penalty area. Even by fluke one could get more than four touches in the area with  that much possession. the Spaniards were just as happy to pass the ball backwards all game and just as happy to go to penalty kicks. That embarrassment of a game was all on Spain. The Russians did what they had to do to win.

I would agree - that Spanish style was great for a while when it was new and was amazing to watch them move the ball about, pull the opposition out of position then exploit the gaps to create chances. The Russians negated it very well and as you say the Spanish just kept going sideways and backwards
