Wow. Brutal.

He's really not lying - you can tell by his body language that he's just not comfortable with himself, nor does he have any faith in himself. If he doesn't find a way to turn things around, it could be a long 9 years for him in Philly - maybe the hardest city for a goalie to turn his game around in (maybe 2nd after Montreal - they eat their goalies as well).

Bryzgalov    3W-4L-1OTL  3.45GAA  .870 save%
Bobrovsky    2W-0L-0OTL  3.75GAA  .859 save%

Not the start the Flyers visualized for their $51 mil goalie.

Bryzgalov is a very down to earth interview. He's a good guy and a decent goalie. I expect that he'll figure it out.

Pens PK:
97.3% after 12 games
1 SHG in 37 times shorthanded
3 Shorthanded goals

Net +2 !!! goals while on the PK

It's obviously early stats but 12 games played for the Pens. Combine the PK rate with the SH goals and that's still pretty extreme/impressive. Since the lockout, it takes the bottom feeders all season to score 3 SH goals and a handful of them don't even get three. They're on a pace to score 20 SH goals - the second highest total since '98 and the highest happened in '06 due to all the penalties called when they returned from the lockout - it would have an asterisk.

It's something to watch for on Saturday.

That 9-8 game could make for some interesting post-game moments on the HBO 24/7 series.

It's nice to see that now Antropov is at PPG pace with 9 points in 9 games.  130 points in 179 games (0.726 PPG pace) since the trade.  I still don't get why he was traded.

If Pittsburgh is this good now, think of what they will be like when Crosby returns to action in earnest.

Well they were the #1 PK team last year and #2 in SH goals and half of that was done without Crosby and Malkin ... so it isn't a fluke.

If Crosby returns in good form, and he and Malkin can stay healthy, they're a serious contender because they have the defence and goaltending. The lack of offence (2.00 GFA) without Crosby & Malkin in the playoffs last year killed them.

Here is an interview with Bryz after the game.  He sounds despondent:

I almost feel sorry for a Flyer.

I don't think I recall seeing so many players playing at a PPG pace 10 games in. Even Pascal Dupuis is nearly playing at a PPG pace!

That was brutal...

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt with respect to english not being his primary lanaguage, so perhaps some of the specific word choices reflect poorly in the context he's in, but whoa...

I, too, almost felt sorry for a flyer.

Then I saw how I could turn it to my advantage, and annoy the hell our of a jerk flyers fan I work with.

Email him the link via a Canada wide group send..maybe stream it, all day, up onto the projector in the meeting room directly across from his desk. I'm definitely going to take a screenshot of Bobs at his most weepy-eyed, and set it as his wallpaper...tweak it so if he changes it, it stays.

:)
