2011-2012 NHL Thread

Watching the Vancouver feed of the Canucks/Wild game, and the amount of whining is really getting on my nerves.    Apparently Ron MacLean said something about Burrows that he apologized for, and they won't shut up about it.  They even had the assistant GM on during the intermission to whine about it some more.

Since when is the media not allowed to criticize players/teams?  And can we forward that memo to Bruce Garrioch?

Management, Players, Media, Fans -- the whining from Vancouver comes from everywhere.

Oh for...  It seems this is what MacLean had to apologize for;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?&v=y_nDCI1ihts#! (Starting at around 2 minutes)

The only thing he said that even approached controversial is that he thinks Burrows embellished a call in Montreal.  THAT'S what has Vancouver all up in arms?

The Canucks are quickly moving up my most-hated list.

Eric Nystrom scored his 11th goal of the year.  That tied a career high for him.  Doesn't seem to be much justice for ending a kids season/career in the preseason.

Very impressive.  He's the straw that stirs that vile, Philly drink.

Are you watching that game? Apparently Laviolette & Ott got into it...or did I hear that wrong?

Not watching, but Twitter is all a twitter over it.

Laviolette has been sour all year..

I think the Ott thing and the Kesler/Kronwall thing from last night are pretty good examples of just how jaw droppingly stupid the whole "culture of hockey" can be at times. Ott and Laviolette can't work out how to politely walk in the same hallway and Kesler seems to legitimately believe that if someone hits him hard and clean he's then obligated to fight him as well.

The issue with the Dallas arena hallway has happened before. Years ago it was Ron Wilson(with the Ducks) and another player from Dallas but there wasn't as big a pushing thing going on. It happens because after the visiting players exit the ice they close the door. If a coach or whomever stays behind for a minute or two they have to go the route the Stars exit. Poor arena design if you ask me.

Columbus choked one up last night after leading 4-1 and 5-2 (Carter with 3 goals, 2 on a five minute major).

The winning goal reminded me a bit of some of the Leafs defensive woes this season - a pass from the blue line and Erat skates through four guys and breaks in along to score with 8 seconds left. Crazy.

The really creative teams in this league find new ways to lose every night. Nash & to a lesser extent Carter must be wondering what they did to deserve playing for the Jackets. I think it's only a matter of time now until Nash and the Jackets break-up.

Leafs fans know all about creative ways to lose games.  Seen that show repeated many times the last few seasons.

I watched that show 50 times last year.
