2011 Blue Jays/MLB Thread

Rosenthal says the Rangers and Jays are talking about Koji Uehara, 2.35 ERA and a .723 WHIP last season.

Seems like he could be a nice addition to the pen.

9 year, $214M is the word. More coin and more years than I would have gone, but, he's now filling daddy's shoes.

Man, between him, Cabrera and V-Mart they'll have a bunch of guys who should be DH's.

Well, VMart is out for the season, so, that helps the log jam a little bit.

Yeah, but they're all signed to long term deals. I mean, three years from now, they'll have Cabrera, Fielder and Martinez, all over 30 and making...56 million or so between the three of them?

My guess is one of them is traded before the 2013 season, probably Cabrera.

That strikes me as unlikely. Cabrera is almost certainly the best of the three and he'll be a five and ten guy.

That's true, but, he'll also have the best trade value. VMart's value will be low after missing an entire season and I doubt they move Fielder 1 year into a 9 year deal.

Well, ok, he'll have the most trade value but that's because trading him would hurt the most. Not to mention, you know, his trade value will almost certainly be negatively affected by his ability to veto a trade.

Either way, it makes this signing look iffy a year or two out from now.
