Well, I'm really disappointed. I bought tickets, I was going with some high school buddies and I was definitely planning on propping up the local rye and barley concerns while there.

They should start another reality show about these negotiations, or um.... non-negotiations. They couold call it Lockout Wars, or something to that effect, I'm sure OLN would buy a season. It's all so exciting, it just needs a show to really get to "hit" status.

I like to look at it this way -- the NHL is the store, the players are the product, the logos are the merchandise, and the fans are the customers.

Fans won't buy the logos (merchandise) without a good product (name) on the back.  Some fans may not do so on that basis alone.
Still, everyone who comes in the store, knows what is there, and comes in to see the product with the merchandise sold.

A big part of the problem is that the players feel disrespected. They were seen as the losers of the last labor dispute. Owners did not negotiate with future negotiations in mind. To put it in perspective they have treated the players like a team who are leading the game 7 to 1 with less than two minutes on the power play with the best power play in the league and they put on their top power play unit.The player present two or three offers and the owners dismiss them with hardly even studying them. Then they say when we meet again we will set the agenda. That said both sides need to set ego aside and remember to negotiate and remember there will be another labor agreement to negotiate in the future.  Then remember negotiate means both give and take. NHL and NHLPA compromise and come to an agreement. Make it a win-win senario not a win-lose senario.

The last offer the NHL tabled had the players salary drop by approximately 12.3%, maybe more, maybe less, depending on what league revenues were.

The make whole provision re-paid the players over the next couple seasons, however those payments came out of the player 50% share of revenues. Now it appears the NHL have offered to pay for part those payments out of their share. Dreger tweeted that it would be 150 million in year 1 and 50 million in year 2.

Ah ok, thanks for the clarification. I guess this is a step in a positive direction, doubt its enough to save the season though.

I'd say so, and I think it's a positive move by the owners.
