RT @NYRangers: The #NYR have acquired F Brandon Mashinter from SJ Sharks in exchange for F Tommy Grant & a conditional 2014 draft pick

NYR just got a lot tougher.  This kid is probably as good a fighter as Parros in Florida....just not as skilled.

:)  OK, Brandon might never crack NYR's lineup because of his low hockey skills but he is a brute.

Considering they could have grabbed him off waivers for a free a day or two before if they wanted him on their NHL roster . . .

Did Hickey clear?  Sens are in need of defensemen, I'd like them to take a flyer on him.

Islanders nabbed him. #sadhickey
LOL. Goes from the good life in LA with the cup champions to a sad-sack franchise with the worst arena in the league. He should call Nabokov or Visnovsky.

Aren't the Isles moving to that Brooklyn arena?

TSNBobMcKenzie: CGY puts Henrik Karlsson and Irving Leland on waivers.

TSNBobMcKenzie: BUF puts Adam Pardy on waivers.

Irving was, at one point, a highly thought of goalie prospect. Wouldn't be surprised if someone takes a flier there.

Yeah, they proably lose one of those goalies.

Saw some of his play in the AHL. I thought he looked pretty good.

Hearing TC going on waivers. Wow that's insane. I can't believe he couldn't be traded. And after they spoke about how he could improve.

I think the thinking is Nonis wants to run the kids in an abbreviated season. Not a bad idea.

Calgary waiving both Karlsson and Irving is very puzzling, because they don't have another backup goalie on their roster.

This absolutely gives Kadri a spot on one of the scoring lines.

Yeah, for sure. Were gonna be running with Kadri and Frattin for sure. There's a couple Marlies I wouldn't mind seeing up in another capacity though.

The apparent reasoning:

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie

Karlsson/Irving battling for backup job in CGY. Could go either way so CGY puts both on waivers so either can be demoted if they clear.

I know it's unlikely, but, what if they both get claimed? Poor planning, as far as I'm concerned.

I'd laugh if they were both claimed just to screw the flames over lol.

TSNBobMcKenzie: Alexei Kovalev's one-year contract with FLA is worth $1M plus some GP bonuses. Signing today, will be on 23-man roster.
