2013-2014 NHL Thread

The freakish, bizarre goals continue.

Tampa Bay Lightning take the lead 5-4 against Chicago with 2 minutes left, then score on themselves immediately afterwards. Carle passes to his D partner and it somehow bounces over his stick and in the net.

Shoot. Boston absolutely dominated by the Sharks, score with one second left in the 3rd to win 2-1. They were badly outshot, out chanced and outplayed by the Sharks. Jeez.

Can we sue them for stealing our game plan?

There's one recent Cup winner in the the top 5 and 3 in the bottom 5. The Leafs live in their own world so yeah I get that but the Jets & Oilers? Oilers are teetering on joke status

My god. It's almost as if ticket prices are determined by the market's demand for hockey as opposed to who wins the most games. You're blowing my mind.

How much are Marlies tickets again?

Are you really disagreeing with the notion that ticket prices are determined by demand?

With Alexander Steen producing like he is, I really like the St. Louis forward lineup.  Not sure if he has simply improved, or they are playing him in more of a scoring role or its just a fluke.  But 7 goals in 7 games to begin the season is quite amazing for anyone.
It gives them a legit 2 line scoring threat and good secondary scoring as well.

Shattenkirk, Bouwmeester and Pietrangelo on D for years to come must be a great feeling for Blues fans.

Fun fact - John Scott is the only player in the history of the NHL to have played more than 180 games and register less than 6 points. Only one player that has played at least 120 games has registered less points.

He had 347 PIM in college.  That's insane.

That is.  I'm rather shocked he was able to amass that total without being thrown out.  College hockey usually doesn't tolerate that much goonery.

I assume he literally killed a player every 2 or 3 games.

His Mom must be so proud.

TRANSACTIONS / INJURIES / SUSPENSIONS
2013/10/24 Suspended by the NHL indefinitely.

His discipline hearing was scheduled for the 31st, so he's out for at least 5 games.  If he gets 10 or more games he'll miss one or both of the Leafs/Sabres back-to-back series that was so anticipated after the brawl in the pre-season.

My point was more about how Edmonton and Winnipeg are gouging the truest of fans of hockey - the suffering ones. Nik on the other hand is unknowingly riding my coattails

Lafleur... Awesome.

Real_ESPNLeBrun: League announces 7-game suspension for John Scott

Not enough, though, somehow, Scott had managed to escape supplementary discipline before this incident.

7 games is pretty high for a first time offender. Although of course you can argue that the whole first time offender status shouldn't make a difference.
