2013 Toronto Blue Jays Thread

I'm going to the Jays-Tigers game on Monday, and possibly Thursday. Monday is an afternoon game, being Canada Day and I can't remember which side of the stadium is the side that's in the sun when the roof is open.

Well, the when the roof is open, it sits over the outfield side of the stadium, so, pretty much anywhere that's not either in the hotel, restaurant, 1st level outfield seats or on levels 2, 3 or 4 is exposed to the sun.

I remembered the roof sits over the outfield, but wasn't sure on the orientation of the seats in relation to the sun. The last few games I've been to have been night games or the roof is closed. I might be all right this time as I'm sitting in section 220. Trying to plan ahead as I got sunburned pretty bad at the Kenny Chesney concert in Seattle a few weeks ago. Really don't need a repeat.

Only 3 games out of the WC with a huge series against the AL East leading Red Sox starting tonight. Taking 3/4 would put a huge dent in Boston's lead.

Allan Webster.  3 starts - 11.25 ERA 2.08 WHIP

Blue Jays - swing and whiff at everything

Losing 3-0 in the 4th.  Losing 4 of 5 against the division to come off that 11 game winning streak.  The stuff of legends.

Yep, this team is frustrating, to say the least, to watch. It's a shame, too, because the bullpen has just rocked it all year.

Jays were down 5-0 on another poor outing by Johnson - if he keeps up like this and someone still gives him 14-15 million per next season, well....

They came back to tie the game! Unfortunately, Wagner came in and gave it away, and they lost 7-5. :(

11 wins in a row, then 4 losses in 5. They really need to win the next two so Boston doesn't get too far ahead.

Johnson and Wang COMBINED to throw 5 innings over the last 2 games. The bullpen's getting overworked. Good thing Esmil brought his good stuff to the ballpark with him today (thus far).

Convincing win after the bullpen blows the save for Rogers.

Two homers for Jose. Jays needed this one. I really hope they win tomorrow too - don't want to fall too fall back.

With all due respect to the Blue Jays, having taken a look at the MLB standings, the runs for/against differential column, the Jays are at .500 -- differential of 0 or RA (Runs Against) 373 & RF (Runs For) 373.

The Red Sox, for instance, are at a differential of +80 -- RF 431 & RA 251.

The St. Louis Cardinals are at a differential of +112 --  RF 401 & RA 289.

The Houston Astros, sporting among one of the worst w/l records in the league, (along with the Miami Marlins including some others), are at a league-worst differential of -112 -- RF 310 & RA 422.

Have a look:

Yeah, I was kinda thinking that myself.

And now Wagner has come in and coughed up a run to give the Tigers the lead - this could be the 2nd time in a week he comes in and turns a tie game into a loss.

Fun fact: Wagner has appeared in 14 games before today. In those games, he has given up runs in two of them. Both times he lost the game.

I hope that this trend ends tonight.

I think the Wang experiment is over...

DFA'd after the game.
Todd Redmond gets the call from Buffalo. Was supposed to start for the Bisons on Wednesday, now some bullpen insurance. May also start for the Jays on Sunday.

Falling back to 9 games off the division lead and I think 5 off the wild card. One game below .500 now, but I would imagine they hang around that mark until their next hot streak. Hopefully these nagging injuries to Lind, EE and Arencibia don't turn into long term things. Lind is particularly worrisome, since it appears to be his back again.

I'm content with cheering for a wild card spot at the moment and taking their chances in a one-game playoff.  Another serious run is going to be needed to bridge the gap for the division.  The 4-game swing from losing 3 of 4 to Boston obviously did not help their chances (I honestly expected the Jays to have been the ones who won 3 in that series).
