2015-2016 NHL Thread

I'm not sure what the issue is, the linesman clearly isn't going to try to be hit, just like that linesman in that Canada-US women's game in the Olympics wasn't trying to interfere with the puck.  They do these things hundreds of times they probably don't even think about it.

Maybe Subban should try to defend the net after that instead of flapping his arms around.  It sucks and I'd be pissed too if it happened to my team, but it's part of the game.

When arguably your primary responsibility on the ice is to watch the puck and you lose track of it along the boards I think you open yourself up to some criticism. But I'm not saying that the linesman should lose his job or the NHL should go back and overturn the goal. I'm just saying Subban's reaction is pretty justified there, especially in the heat of the moment. I lose my mind when that happens in my ball hockey league and I consider myself a pretty reasonable player aside from that.

This revamp of NHL.com as it pertains to the video section on each teams website is awful.

When you'd go the video section of the Leafs website before the relaunch, you'd be greeted by the videos in chronological order from newest to oldest.

If you wanted to sort by just the coach or highlights etc you could.

Now they just throw random videos at you, you'll have some individual plays from the previous game, a preview of the last game they played, the coach talking post game, player interviews pre-game and post game all mixed together, there is no rhyme nor reason to it.

I mean seriously, it's like they don't give a shit about it and have just thrown it all together.

I just tried looking up Chicago's schedule on the site. It only shows you their upcoming games for the current month. The only filter it provides is the time zone for the game, which serves literally no purpose as far as I can tell. So I can't find the results of their past games, or what their schedule is for the months of March and April.

I'm glad you guys feel this way about the site.  I thought I was just getting old and grumpy.

At least pertaining to this particular issue, you can navigate to a different month by clicking the calendar icon next to the word Schedule.

Not excusing the terrible unintuitive design, just saying it's available.

Ah that thing that doesn't look like a button. Anyway I found that you can actually only see the games in the next 14 days per whatever day you click on that icon. So you actually can't even see all games in a single month.

Bettman is channeling the ghost of Jobs. Kill off whatever's successful at regular intervals. It's called being a Disruptive Auteur.

The mobile version is not so bad, looks a little 'cluttered'.  Nothing wrong with the previous one, which I'll admit, I preferred.

As the saying goes, " If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

The NHL.tv apps have run into a lot of trouble and the website sucks.  Nothing says smart decision making like wholesale changes in the middle of a season to "fix" something that was working reasonably well.

It's probably safe to assume the new website was designed by the NHL's attorneys.

This is ESPN's current projection for the Young Guns team at the World Cup:

Gaudreau-McDavid-MacKinnon
Saad-RNH-Larkin
Galchenyuk-Monahan-Eichel
Huberdeau-Couturier-Domi
Jenner

Rielly-Ekblad
Murray-Jones
Gostisbehere-Hamilton
Trouba

Gibson
Hellebuyck
Murray

I know that there was a lot of grumbling about the existence of this team, but that'll be a pretty fun group to watch.

I agree. The existence of this team damages the perception of the World Cup as a serious tournament but I don't think there was ever a real danger of that perception winning out anyway.

Yeah, strikes me more as, "The NHL and NHLPA presents, glorified exhibitions games!"

This isn't going to have any of the gravity of an Olympics games but it should fun.

Is it being sanctioned by the IIHF?
