Given the debate about Marner's size, I thought this was interesting in an article today:

?My brother is six-two. He grew late. He just stopped growing now at 22,? said Marner...

If this kid hits 6' 2", that would be a pretty good combination of skill and size.

He was reportedly 5'7'', 130 lbs when he was drafted by the Knights in 2013. So he has already done quite a bit of growing in the past 2 years. 4 inches and 30 pounds.

Marner may well grow more, but if not and we draft him, take heart in this, which I've seen posted elsewhere:  Chicago is 29th in average player weight and 23rd in average player height across the NHL.

Man, when I was Marner's age, I was convinced by looking at my older 6'2" brother that I was still going to grow.  And.... no, I maxed out at 5'8".  But then, I'm not bald or colour vision deficient like my brother, so I guess it's all good.

His height isn't even really the issue. 5'11'' is only a couple inches shorter than the average forward, and there's a chance he cracks the 6 foot mark by the time he's in the NHL.

And like I said earlier, a lot of the best players in history were 5'11. Crosby's 5'11. McDavid is 6'. It'll suit him to get heavier but 5'11 is fine.

Yeah but if he grows like all you guys are hoping he will probably lose his speed and nimbleness. Face it, the guy's a pre-bust. Time to move on.

... or colour vision deficient...

Now that was funny.

What's funny to me as a brother and a scientist is that the baldness gene and the colour vision defect gene are both on the X chromosome, so he got saddled with both of mom's 'bad' genes in a single genetic whammy.

So he'll skate like Strome?

And still be INCHES shorter.

So which of the roller coasters at the NHLPA theme park won't he get to ride? Surely not the Brett Lindros Bumper Cars.

He won't be able to ride the Healy Coaster either.  Not because he's too short, but because all you can really do is sit on a bench and watch the ride.

He can at least ride his snowmobile...Wait, or was he the snowmobile?

He's a snowmobile, Strome is a furnace, and the Leafs are a house.

I think the fans ride a snowmobile and use a furnace, but I'm uncertain if they live in houses.

Who lives inside the houses?!?!

They're full of crushed hopes.  Oh, and the cupboards are mostly bare.

Fortunately, the barn on the property is available for fisticuffs and other feats of pugnacity/testosterone/truculence/belligerence.
