The Leafs have all but been eliminated from the President's Trophy race.  Anaheim has hit 91 points which is the Leafs maximum point finish now but in theory if they lost every game from here to the end of the year and the Leafs won their final 17 in a row, they would beat them on the basis of ROW.

I added the head-to-head column as that is the 2nd tiebreaker after ROW.  Columbus appears to be the only team to worry about as the Leafs won the season series.

If CAR keep up their play, we're pretty much guaranteed to finish 4th or 5th.

That means we either pick 1st, 4th, 5th or 6th. It would be nice to eliminate the possibility of the 6th  becoming a reality.

I don't see that happening. In all honesty I think we might be stuck at 6th, which isn't a terrible spot but it'd be a lot better if we got one of McDavid, Strome or Marner.

Swedish defenceman Oliver Kylington has been dropping on a few peoples lists. Earlier in the season he was generally considered a lock to go in the 5-10 range. But this month ISS dropped him to 24th and McKeens had him at 27th. Looked to figure out why, it seems like he had a poor showing at an under-18 tournament recently. But it seems kind of crazy to drop a guy like him that much for 4 bad games. I highly doubt that he actually drops that far come draft day but man what a steal that would be with Nashville's pick.

It's starting to remind me of Tuukka Rask a little bit to be honest.  A guy who has immense skill but drops inexplicably and a lot of the basis seems to be around 4-5 games he struggled at the SM-Liga level.

Yeah I remember Rask was supposed to go much, much higher than he did on draft day. Oh the excitement of hearing his name called...

March edition of Craig Button's "Craig's List": http://www.tsn.ca/craig-s-list-mcdavid-stands-alone-1.227769

Man, he is not a fan of Zacha.  Ranks him 28th here, down from 17th earlier in January.  I would not be opposed to the Leafs using their second 1st rounder on him - big, physical, offensive C.  His season has been stop and start, multiple suspensions, an injury and the WJHC.

He also rates Hanifin 8th which is insane.

He responded to a couple people on Twitter saying he was never comfortable with Hanifin being ranked so high.  Said that he's very, very good but not elite, like a player such as Jay Bouwmeester (who is very, very good but not elite).

Button's list are pretty much designed to have a ranking or two like that to stand out and create discussion. Happens every year. Granted, players falling happens every year too, but Button's picks are usually gets nobody thinks will fall.

One guy that I've been reading up a little about recently for Nashville's pick is forward Daniel Sprong. Went from 170lbs to 190lbs last summer, working out a ton both on and off the ice. And it doesn't look like the extra weight hasn't effected his play on the ice negatively. He was born in Holland but moved to Canada at the age of 7. He hasn't been able to get Canadian citizenship yet though and that's prevented him from playing in any international tournaments. Because of that he could be a guy that's pretty underrated by scouts as they love to use those tournaments to judge players. Known as a dynamic offensive player who, like most kids his age, needs to work on his offensive game.

Regardless of who gets selected with that pick, it really does seem like there are a lot of very talented players who will be available in the 20s. A nice change from the last couple of times we've picked there.

Also, let's not forget that there's a reason he's ranking prospects for TSN and not drafting them himself.

Because ethical journalism is important and lacking in the very lucrative business of hockey prospect ranking publishing?

I really hope Toronto has an opportunity to move some players and grab some higher picks prior to the draft.  That Nashville pick could bring a good player, but I'm scared the curse will prevail and the Leafs will blow it.

If Crouse falls to the Nashville pick, do you take him?

He wont, but of course.  He has enough elite level talent that he is easily a 1st round draft pick.  Regardless of what you think of his offensive potential.

If he fell like that there'd probably be a pretty significant reason behind it so, you know, it would depend.
