2016-17 Centennial Leafs General Team Discussion

Why is the hall larsson trade setting the market?  Why cant jones johanson set the market.  A much better hockey trade.

Aside from the fact that the Hall/Larsson trade happened after the Jones/Johansen trade so it would be a more current reflection of what the market is the reality is they're not that different. Jones is probably better than Larsson long term but at the time he was traded for he hadn't proven much.

The rest of the difference is probably summed up between the difference in value in Hall, who was a very high scoring winger, and Johansen who is the big, scoring C that is maybe one of the most valuable properties there is.

So, yeah, if you've got a 23 year old 70+ point scoring C who's 6'3 and 220lbs you can probably trade for someone like Seth Jones. The Leafs don't have that though.

So what you're saying is that larsson isn't that much worse than Jones and that Johanson is much more valuable than hall.

I put these .gifs in the last known Komarov thread. Mark Giordano decides he wants no more of Uncle Leo.

Moved these here because for a moment I assumed that Komarov was somehow suspended again ;)

Rielly back at practice on a pair with Zaitsev, it's looking like he'll back soon.

That's obviously good news...I was reading some criticism over on another site about how a writer feels that Babcock has picked his spots for Gardiner this season, and that Babcock still doesn't trust Gardiner on tougher defensive assignments.

The suggestion was that Gardiner gets good PP time that pound up his scoring stats, but doesn't get the responsibility of the tougher PK jobs.

Not too surprised. Marincin basically started taking Hunwick's PK minutes alongside Polak once he returned to the line-up. The Calgary game being a good example: Marincin 6:34, Polak 6:28, Hunwick 2:33. Hunwick had a 2 minute penalty in that game but still a big divide.

It keeps everyone on their proper sides and as I said before Marincin-Polak actually posted really good results together last year.

It's been good to see Marincin regain the stride he was on just prior to injury. He is so subtle with his gap control and stick checks, sowing discord and chaos at the blueline. I can see how his game could mesh with Polak's, with 0 expectation for offense. #CzechoslovakiaReunion

Funny thing is, Marincin has gotten a few shots on net.  Well, about as many as Polak, I guess.  Anyway, he looks like he *could* score.

Probably just a head-fake, but this could be fun.

I don't even know what to think.  Definitely like the top 2 lines... but if that means line #3 gets more defensive zone starts I'm a bit worried despite some of our better defensive wingers on that line.

Earlier in the season, Babcock shuffled a bit to spread out the offense.

This one strikes me as a spread out the liability move (JvR, Bozak on different lines). 4th line's gonna 4th line anyway.

I hope to see it in game, if anything just to give the WOWYs some more datapoints to work with.

The buds have lost 3 straight in regulation, the last two badly :(

My pitchfork is ready. Should I wrap my torch clockwise, or counter-clockwise? It really changes the angle of the flames and I'm not sure if I want it towards my eyes for the ominous look, or away so that I don't set my hair on fire.

Sarcasm or no, I think all but the most rabid fans agree that they are in no position to get far in the playoffs.  So adios JVR.  Or Kadri.  Komarov. Or (gasp) Nylander.  Or (more likely) Polak.  Brown?  BEN SMITH?!?!
