2016 NHL Draft Lottery

Going for the consensus top Euro forward who they've been talking about for over a year would be pretty anticlimactic... but what I've read about Pulijarvi -- makes him sound like a good fit with what the Leafs have already got.

Although he's not the consensus top Euro forward. That's Patrik Laine right now.

I guess, and this is an unfair comparison I know, but to me it kind of reminds me of the 2008 draft. That draft, everyone thought beforehand, had a clear top 5 and then the big drop-off. That's why Fletcher traded into the top five. So it's like, who would you prefer, the guy in tier one that everyone has agreed they like the least? Or the guy in tier two you like the most?

I just meant that we've been hearing about Puli for a year now. It's long been thought that if a team misses out of Matthews, he's a great consolation prize. And he's been sort of ignored since then. Laine's stock has increased more recently so there's more excitement there.

As to the question: in 5 years, it won't matter. If Puli's as he's advertised to be -- a strong, two-way forward who can muscle his way into shooting lanes and get off good shots -- then he'd be great to have on the Leafs. But right now thinking about who's the top of that second tier is much more fun, I agree.

Just so we are clear.  Pittsburgh @ Washington Game 2 starts at 8:00 EST.  The NHL has the entire hour from 7-8 to do the draft and instead they go and put the draft head to head with their playoff game?  Do they have that big of a hole in their head?

It's still pretty funny that they would push back the start of a 2nd round playoff game (and 8:30 is a pretty late start for an Eastern conference game) so the lottery is in primetime.

Nobody cares though

That laine interview might have been one of the most bizarre I've ever seen.

Downright creepy. I liked the interviewer trying to save it. Very laid back. Very rock n roll.

Also true of Charles Manson.

Lol, that's it exactly. I know Finns are pretty dry, and obvious english isn't the first language, but that was just 8 shades of crazy.

Top 3 pick guaranteed.

Calgary drops to 6th, Vancouver dropped to 5th, Edmonton drafts 4th.

Winnipeg, Columbus and Toronto for the top 3.
