2017-2018 NHL Thread

23 y/o RW Josh Anderson who produced 29 points last season has asked for a trade out of Columbus because they can?t agree a new contract for the RFA.

Reports had them about 150k apart, is he trying to ruin his career?

The type of ?old boys network? that exists in hockey won?t take kindly to this.

Paging Arizona.

I liked Drouin's insight on Bergeron.

How about the Toronto Islanders?

                                Grundstrom - Kadri - Kapanen
                                        Leivo, Johnsson

                                        Reilly - Zaltsev
                                        Gardiner - Boychuk
                                        Leddy    - Carrick
                                              Dermott

                                              Anderson
                                              Halak

                                              69.1M

Subban (Bos), Gazdic (Cgy), Hathaway (Cgy), Nemeth (Dal), Froese (Mtl), Martinsen (Mtl) Strait (NJ), Grosenick (SJ), C. Conacher (TB), Rychel (Tor), Sparks (Tor), Pedan (Van), Pulkkinen (VGK)

Some of the guys on waivers today, anyone worth a punt?

I don't expect it to happen with the Leafs, but Malcolm Subban would be an intriguing option.

He might be the most likely to be claimed. I'm sure he's an upgrade on a backup goalie for a team who is rebuilding or needing to find their immediate future goalie.

This is great! Not just for the maths and graphics, but the John Klingberg photo.

I enjoyed that a lot. I like that the results are heavily statistic based, but with a good does of explanation.

He did the same for Centres, LWs, and RWs.

Friedman mentions that there is a possibility of an $80 million dollar cap next season, that would probably allow the Leafs to sign the triplets and still be able to keep one of their UFA's without much issue.

Watch TJ Brodie/#7 (a very good skater) just get absolutely blown by.

Is this a new thing with speedometers?  Are all players wearing something like that?

No, Sportsnet added it themselves. They've done it before, not exactly sure how they calculate it but it's not something on the players.

I've never really thought of the cap as being the main issue in not keeping the UFA's. I've always felt it was either them just not really having a long term fit with the club(Bozak), being too expensive for what they do(Komarov) or costing enough that they'll impact the team's ability to spend big money on a potential UFA(JVR)

I don?t disagree, but Babcock tends to fall in love with older guys that are RLGUDPROS, see Abdelkader, Franzen, Holmstrom and Cleary amongst a few others.  I?m not sure he?ll be down to let 3 vets he plays in important situations walk away.

And, you know, to some extent you can give your coach some latitude in that direction when your best players are signed to 6 million dollar cap hits and backdiving deals but a team that can't do that really can't allow themselves to drown in their coach's stubbornness.
