The Bubble going into Friday, March 24th. Stanley Cup Playoffs begin April 12th.

            GR    PTS            Current Matchup
Toronto  9      85        (3rd Atlantic vs Ottawa)
Boston    8      82        (Wildcard vs Washington)
--------------------
NY Isles  10    80                  (shame)
Tampa    9    79              (more shame)

Thursday's action: Leafs win and Tampa defeats Boston in regulation.

It might be time to start adding Ottawa and Montreal to the list.

Montreal can keep 1st place. And it doesn't really matter if we finish 2nd or 3rd in the Atlantic, we'll have home ice either way.

Yeah... Just like the golden days when Ottawa won every regular season game and got kicked by the Leafs in the playoffs... oh well, 3 cheers for Ottawa...

Yeah. Im not too sure we can extrapolate that moving forward to this years first round matchup, if the two teams do meet again.

given their performance lately I'm not sure the habs can keep first place.  definitely still a possibility that we play them first round if we can hold on to 3rd or higher

Can they? Ottawa is only 1 point back with a game in hand; Leafs are 6 back, also with a game in hand. They're in the 2nd place conversation.

I meant "can" as in I'll allow them to since I'd rather the Leafs not finish 1st anyway. You're right though, 1st place is still up for grabs.

Fair. I'd also prefer the Leafs get the easier 1st round opponent. I just want disco's daily updates to include the Leafs' unexpected shot at getting home-ice for it.

I'm still holding out hope that the Habs lose their final 8 games and miss the playoffs.  Le tank de 2017.

Oh god, it's happening again, I'm getting excited for a Leafs playoff appearance... it's still too early to get excited, right? Both Tampa and the NYI seem to be going on rolls too. It seems like the start of a promising new era regardless, but it will be heartbreaking if they find a way to miss this year. If they can roll into the playoffs on a hot streak, who knows what could happen.

Man, think about how amazing a series against OTT or MTL would be!!

NY Isles  7    82                (Halo Tourney)

Monday's action: Bolts win, Isles lose.
Next up: Leafs at home against Florida. Bruins play.

Probably should add Carolina to that list.  If they win their game at hand, they are tied with the Islanders.

Didn't they just lose Eddie Lack, who magically played better and started carrying the team after getting thrown under the bus by the coach?

Edit: After getting shellacked by us (Feb 19) and the Penguins (Feb 21), Carolina switched to Lack for more games. In the 10 games he played since, Carolina has taken 16 out of a possible 20 points.

Maybe the Leafs have nothing to worry about then as long as Peters doesn't throw Ward under the bus.

It wasn't for Lack of trying

Meanwhile, in the West, the 8 playoff teams are all but officially decided (and could be official by the end of the night tomorrow). They're just jostling for position now.
