That gives Rinne more goals this season than:

Brendan Perlini
Leo Komarov
Mark Jankowski
Justin Abdelkader
Evan Rodrigues

Also ties him with:

Josh Anderson
Sam Gagner
Carl Hagelin

What's the deal with Josh Anderson this season?

4 points in 26 games this season after 47 points in 82 last year...I see he's on the IR right now.

Very weird. Must be a nagging injury that finally forced him out?? Probably cost too much money to re-sign him.

And beating Marincin and Petan. Not regulars but have played enough to get a goal.

3 defencemen and a part-time 4th liner who's now in the AHL. Not exactly comparables to the forwards listed above who are regulars for their respective teams, and were expected to be offensive contributors - maybe not significant ones, but they were expected to have more than 1 goal more than halfway through the season. That's not true of any of the Leafs you identified.

Perlini and Ridrigues?? I dont think so. Very comparable to Petan.

Rodrigues had 9 goals last season
Perlini had 14 goals in 68 games last season.
Petan has 6 career goals

Marincin's played 13 games this season... there's 41 defencemen who have played that many games or more without a goal. It's really not unusual.

Petan has 0 in 16 games. On top of what Deebo said about him just not being comparable to some of the other guys on the list he's also not in the NHL anymore and likely won't be again.

It won't kill you to just admit you posted something wrong for once.

Perlini has never scored less than 14 goals in a full season.

Rodrigues has scored more goals in each of the last two seasons than Petan has in his career.

They are not comparable. Detroit definitely expected Perlini would be a secondary contributor when they traded for him - they gave up a pretty decent prospect in that deal - and Buffalo was definitely looking for Rodrigues to contribute more than 0 goals. He was expected to add some depth to their offence.

Also, other than Perlini, everyone mentioned by Carlton or I has a cap hit of at least $1.6M this season. Petan's cap hit is less than half that.

My first guess was that he played a lot with either Panarin or Duchene last season: wrong. He actually played very little with them at 5-on-5 and his most common linemates were Jenner and Foligno. He wasn't even on Columbus' top powerplay unit last season.

Next guess was that last season success was mostly because of an inflated shooting percentage: also wrong. He shot 11.7% which is basically where he's been his career (10.5%).

I considered injury like Guilt Trip suggested, but his shot totals and hit totals are basically identical to last season and you would think if something was bugging him those might have decreased.

His current shooting percentage is just 1.59% so I'd imagine this is just one of those situations where nothing is going his way, his ice-time gets cut, his confidence goes down, and it's tough to battle out of it.

This makes it the perfect time to trade Nylander for him. Buy low, sell high.

As someone who spent the holidays fielding a barrage of comments from family and friends ranging from "why do you like Nylander" to, "look, here comes the Nylander fan", I shudder to think how many people would take this facetious suggestion to heart.

I think Nylander for Anderson was a real thing being kicked around here by the people who wanted to, you know, add gritty grit or competitude but I may have that wrong.

I'm not sure if anyone was seriously saying that one for one but I think it was Kypreos who suggested Nylander for David Savard and Anderson, which is still insane.

Although I would still be very interested in that duo (but for something like Kappy/Bracco/Ceci).

Yeah, when people were saying "Who would you try to get for Kapanen/Johnsson" Savard seemed like a reasonable target both in terms of value and what Columbus might need. Feels unlikely that they'd throw Anderson in but if he's been butt all year...?
