2019-2020 NHL Thread

I remember when Hedman got a concussion at the end of last year and wasn't the same in the playoffs. Losing the play your #1 Norris calibre defense-man was a massive loss and I believe contributed to their first round exit.

Pittsburgh's lost 6 games in a row, starting with that 4-0 loss to the Leafs. They just lost 5-0 to San Jose.

I don't understand. Are you saying that a team that built up a really good record on the back of unsustainably good goaltending will lose games once that goaltending comes back to earth a little?

Wonders never cease in the modern NHL.

But are the Leafs still shit? [emoji3166]

Florida is 4-8-2 since their comeback victory embarrassed the Leafs Feb 3rd, and on their way to another loss today (Milan Lucic scores against them).

Carolina's 0-2-1 since the EBUG game. Other teams should clearly think twice before embarrassing the Leafs.

We might have actually killed their playoff chances as both their goalies are borked

Oh so they can play elite defence in front of an EBUG but they can't muster up the courage to play like that in front of their AHL goalies wow such heartless overpaid bums

Should've traded them Ayres for a 1st rounder while we had the chance.

If ESPN's attendance numbers are right than all of Florida's off-season spending and the competitive hockey they've played has resulted in the team selling fewer than 700 tickets extra per game.

685 tickets by 41 games at, say, 70 bucks a ticket is about 2 million in revenue. Cap friendly has their cap number as 5 million higher this year than last so...yeah. Probably cutting payroll.

It's just bonkers to me that they'd make such a big move on Bob and Q and when it didn't pay off immediately they hollow out the middle of the roster. I mean if that was the downside risk why take such a huge gamble on Bob at all?

I have no idea why they didn't trade for a half decent goalie at the deadline and instead spent assets on Trocheck. I guess carrying 3 goalies wasn't an option and they thought it could be filled internally?

Their #3/4 goalies are probably as good as any other franchise's #3/4 goalies so I kinda get them thinking they can wait out their injuries if Mrazek and/or Reimer are back soon. But I think the Canes are a damn good team, if they end up missing the playoffs all because their owner didn't want to pay a pretty fair price for a rental like Lehner that's gonna be a big kick in the pants to their fans.

That's what I mean. Their biggest obvious weakness is goaltending. I wouldn't want either Mrazek or Reimer as my #1 or use either of them in a platoon role like in Boston.

It'd be nice if the NHL could handle real problems with this much gusto like inconsistent reffing or the fact that DOPS has become a joke again.

Both goalies going down is such a rare occurrence.  Get rid of the EBUG all together.  Your goalies go down, you either play with an extra skater, or put one of your skaters in net.

Haha, could you imagine?
