Phaneuf: I remember when he came to training camp ? this just shows what type of person he is and what type of a teammate he was ? me and my wife had him over for supper. And my wife made homemade guacamole for an appetizer. He gets there and we?re sitting down and we?re having a drink, talking before dinner, and it?s his first training camp in the National Hockey League and he?s eating guacamole and chips with me.
Rielly: He wouldn?t stop talking about his wife?s guacamole. He was talking about how great it was. I ate one chip, I said, ?Wow, that?s great, Dion. This is great guacamole.? Then, I stopped, and he called me out. He was like, ?My wife just made all this guacamole and you?re only gonna have one bite. What?s that all about??
Phaneuf: Cut to like a year and a half later, we?re out for supper one time and there was a salad that he ordered and it had avocado on it. And he?s like, ?No avocado please.? And he?s like, ?Hey, I gotta tell you this. I never said anything to you but that first meal you had me over ? I hate avocado. And your wife made guacamole.? I?m like, ?Well, why did you eat it, Morgan? Why didn?t you say something?? He?s like, ?I was just so happy to be there.?
Rielly: I didn?t want to be the kid who came over and didn?t eat what was put on the table. So, I don?t know, I just ate it.
