Russian prospects are going to fall down the draft board faster than Humpty Dumpty.

Any Russian players that went home need to find the next flight out of the country. Any mid-tier or lower pending Russian UFAs who traveled back should probably start considering KHL teams, because their value is tanking.

This is madness.

I mean, can we be surprised when the whole country is an oligarchical klepto-state?  And has been, really, for centuries, Soviet era included.

I'm fine with any non-Leafs teams getting screwed due to the bizarre nature of the cap.
 
Ignoring the fact that cap recapture credits exist in the first place.  Why should the Oilers be entitled to a credit for a player retiring anyway.  They get his cap hit off the cap.  What would actually entitle them to getting additional cap credit for him retiring.  They aren't the ones paying him for retiring.
