2021-22 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

I was thinking (it hurts sometimes when I do that), if you're Jack Campbell, this is your one and only time to cash in for your career earnings.

Do we agree that this deal is going to have to be 5 years minimum?

I guess it probably depends on how the season goes?

Really? Meaning you think he could get more than 5 years? I think that?s a bit crazy.

I think realistically 3 years is a safe bet. I also don?t see teams tripping over themselves to overcommit to Campbell.

I?m not sure it?s the greatest comparable but Andersen has a track record and he took a pay cut and only got 2 years.

Very true on all accounts. I think he gets 3 years and a little more then Mrazek

Assuming the deal gets done in January/February and Campbell is still good at that point I?d do a 5 year deal if it cut down AAV enough.

3-5 years, around $4M PER is my guess.

This really depends on how well the rest of his season and to some extent the playoffs go. His save percentage is obviously coming down at some point but if he stays above 0.920 with 50+ games played and wins a playoff round or two he isn't signing for anything less than $5mil. The Grubauer/Merzlikins/Ullmark/Saros will be his comparables at that point.

If this happens he can sign for $13M/per as far as I'm concerned.

Downthread for Spezza's insight. Already a bench coach, and future assistant whenever he wants.

Maybe he's a guy who gets motivated when the coach holds him to account with real consequences? I can see how that could get some people going. Could be a guy who gets overconfident and needs to be reeled in whereas Marner is fragile and needs to be built up instead.

There's a difference between motivation and accountability. I'm one who needs motivation, but I wilt with criticism.

It's about pushing Nylander to be great, not about roasting him for errors and faults.

The thought process behind the lineup change (and the last game shifts).

It's no big deal. Keefe knows Nylander well and it's clear they've collaborated on how to get the most out of Nylander's tremendous skillset.

Someone has a good chance of being a Leaf again tomorrow...

He cleared waivers earlier and was about to be assigned to the AHL

And he'll be heading to the Marlies here, hopefully along with Brooks tomorrow.

I think he can hit 40G if his shooting percentage tips ahead of his xG. Engagement remains an issue as before, but they seem to be more brief. Eventually, the gap between his on-games and off-games will approach 0...

Someone is joining former Toronto Maple Leaf legend Mike Amadio in Vegas.

Yeah. The Clifford trade yesterday made it less likely Brooks would be back, and, well, Vegas was ahead of the Leafs in priority anyways.
