2022-23 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

When someone told me last night that the pre-season games were starting this upcoming week I almost didn't believe them. September sure has flown by.

I can't believe we're well into the back half of September, but I'm not gonna lie. I'm itching for hockey again.

Me too...I'm jonesing to whine and complain about something completely frivolous.

I decided a while back that I?m too old to cope with watching games starting at half past midnight and not ending until 3am then getting up before 7am for work

Yet I still did it multiple times last season.

My plan this year is to restrict such activity to weekend games and for weekday games try and avoid the result and watch the game ?as live? at some stage the next day.

It may require a quitting of social media but maybe that?s a good thing.

I don't believe you.

It feels really quiet for preseason.  So many names without even a PTO still.

Jake Virtanen now has one, thanks to the Oilers and their criminal rehabilitation efforts!

Can you PVR it and turn off notifications from various apps/looking at Social media until after games you want to watch? That's generally what I do for F1 but it's a lot easier considering it's staggered on weekends.

So everyone is injured.  We have reclamation project goaltending, Matthews has already signed a contract with the Los Angeles Coyotes and Dubas is already basically fired.

Good start to the season

Hence the lack of trades around Kerfoot, Holl, and extended opportunities for some Marlies and waiver bait to leave a mark.

Have we traded the pick guaranteed to be Connor Bedard yet? I feel like we must have.

This is very funny to me, my misgivings about the dairy industry notwithstanding.
Auston Matthews milk moustache ads incoming

It's bad but not as obtrusive as it could be so I guess that's something. Not that I was in great danger of buying a jersey soon anyway but this is definitely another nail in the coffin.

Good: unobtrusive lettermark, matches team colours
Bad: the Milk industry is basically the oil industry equivalent for food, except not nearly as functional
Great: the headlines after every loss riffing on spilled milk and lactose intolerance
