2022 Trades

Not saying they should entertain any offers obviously but it'd be pretty funny to see the kind of haul a team like Colorado would give up for Bunting (and his contract) lol.

Kerfoot has to move the needle for something good...crazy price for Hagel

Hagel's shooting percentage, though...he's probably a 20ish goal guy going forward. Is that worth two 1sts and 2 NHL pieces (even if they're 4th liners)?

No but T Bay doesn't care apparently.

2 TBay firsts is like... 2nd rounders. But getting a middle 6 forward (with shooting) at a cost controlled cap hit for term is extremely valuable in Tampa's contention window. Tampa just dumped some decent waiver bait (who are both older than Hagel?!).

His stats certainly look inflated but you could say the same about Bunting too, doesn't really change how valuable he is. Going from playing with Kane to playing on a line with either Stamkos+Kucherov or Point+Kucherov isn't going to hurt him. If he was a pending RFA in line for a big pay raise because of that boosted shooting percentage it'd be a different story though of course.

Sure, but, without that shooting percentage, the Bolts basically gave up two 1st round picks for a good 3rd liner. They?ve also traded basically every 1st round pick they?ve had from 2013 on. It?s worked out for them so far, but that much borrowing from the future is going to catch up to them in a hurry.

Oh I'm definitely not saying it wasn't a massive overpayment. 95% of the league would have absolutely scoffed at that price. Tampa's just in a unique position to be able to sacrifice those picks right now. I just don't think his high shooting percentage should be that big of a red flag like it was say a David Clarkson. There's a lot to like about the guy even aside from that. Calling him a 3rd liner would be like saying that about Bunting. Like sure maybe it's true but he's also the perfect cost-effective complimentary guy a lot of teams need in their top-6 alongside their most expensive forwards.

James Duthie kind of crying now
God I hate the Bruins. Why is everything happening in the East this year?

Surprised it look so long for Boston to improve their left side. It's been pretty weak since Krug/Chara left. This season it's been Matt Grzelcyk, Mike Reilly, and Derek Forbort. Not exactly the murderers row there. So this fills a huge hole.

Sheesh

That Lyubushkin trade, already so beautiful at first blush, is aging wonderfully. (Working pointlessly well for Arizona too)

Would have loved to see what San Jose gave up by re-signing Hertl instead of trading him to Boston, who almost certainly would have paid even more than this for him.
