2024-25 NHL Thread

This move only makes sense if they have a trade lined up for after the roster freeze is lifted - though, that feels pretty unlikely. Mostly, they're just flailing.
The management threw the Captain under the bus and so the rest of the team is deflated. Chrisr Drury is the most hated man in NYC right now.

The Rangers are driving right off a cliff with a 5 to 0 loss to their cross river rival.

Leading with the knee like that is bad. Penalty was deserved for sure. Suspension definitely not out of the question, considering he has a bit of a history of questionable/dirty plays.

I'm not going to study the video but my recollection was that Kutcherov was kind of trying to look around. To me, that makes intent iffy. Having said that, penalty and ejection seemed deserved. If he is suspended, which wouldn't shock me, I doubt it will be for very long.

Yeah I think he lined him up but both seem to sort of change directions/twist at the last second so I’m not sure he meant to lead with the knee. Definitely a major, maybe a game suspension or a fine.

He has his knee out the whole time he's lining up the hit. That part definitely seems intentionally. Whether or not he meant to go knee-on-knee is certainly open to question, but, that knee is out on purpose. Kucherov has a rep around the league as a dirty player. He's escaped punishment most of the time, but he definitely has that side to his game.

I looked at it again. I think he looked away to protect his face.
It was not good. They should nail him.

Dirty player, and it's the main protagonist of his teams rival that just won the Cup.

And because he gets away with stuff it means his list of past offenses gets ignored. I don't know why the NHL only uses suspensions as past precedent. They should be able to pull up previous hits...particularly for things like this to show repeat behaviour.
