2024-25 Toronto Maple Leafs General Discussion

Nylander is looking good.

Upon a quick look at these Marlies players...... Grebenkin excites me to most and probably has the most staying power in the line up.

When some of these injuries are cleared, he can replace a Reaves and Robertson. He's a crazy M@thaf#ker with hands.

O-Dog called Grebenkin the "Russian Hanson Brother".

If he becomes that and scores some goals then Reaves becomes replaceable.

He's replaceable now but he isn't for some unknown reason.

There are so many instances of the Leafs, and particularly our star players, getting dummied, bitch slapped, hit with can openers, and basically pushed around in the regular season and the playoffs.

That ended October 2023. And I haven't seen it since. Very happy for that because now the Leafs do the bitch slapping. For me that makes Reaves a stick worth having.

But maybe the combo of 4 or 5 guys who can drop the gloves (Benoit, McCabe, Domi, the Russian Hanson Brother......anyone else?) can provide the same protection without Reaves.

Here I am, staring down a Saturday night with my raison d'être lying in tatters.

The bozonians in charge of the NHL schedule need to be lashed to an outbound Mars colonization rocket.

Leafs got pushed around plenty last season and in the playoffs. Reaves didn’t change a thing. It’s happening less this season, because the team as a whole are tougher - both in terms of physicality and generally to play against. Reaves still provides nothing. Guys aren’t afraid of someone who spends most of the night on the bench and they’re rarely on the ice against. We’re well past the days of guys like Semenko running shotgun with Gretzky to put fear into the opposition. Enforcers and their ilk don’t have a place on Cup contending teams. If you can’t at least get in on the forecheck, you don’t belong on the lineup. You need to contribute something tangible.

Went out for sushi with the wife. We were discussing when was the last time we went out for dinner on a Saturday night just the two of us. The answer turned out to be twenty three years ago!
