2025-26 General Trades & Signings

Very something. That's a lot of money for a guy that didn't exactly have a good year...Oil have about 8M left with Bouchard to sign. Def someone going off the roster.
The Oilers not upgrading their goaltending again this year will certainly be something.

If he can regain some of his scoring touch, it's not an awful deal, but, 8 years? For someone best suited on the 3rd line? And when you have a big contract to deal with this summer and the biggest one in the league next summer? That's a choice.

Haula's 34 years old with 1 year left on his deal at a $3.4mil cap hit ($2.4mil salary). He went from being a fairly consistent 40-point guy to just 21 points in 69 games. Got a 4th round draft pick.

Jarnkrok turns 34 in September and has 1 year left on his deal at a $2.1mil cap hit ($775k salary after July 1st). His offensive numbers were always a little less than Haula's (although Haula typically played higher in line-ups) and of course his injury last season maybe complicates things more but I don't think they're miles apart as players while filling a similar role. Really do think Jarnkrok's low post-July 1st salary should make him rather easy to move.

That Frederic contract is something…
When the talk of 8 years were came out I was like, "oh cool, they'll get him for like $2mil that's not bad then".

Bizarre contract especially considering he was a bit of a non-factor in their playoff run. 1 goal, 4 points in 22 games. Averaged the 11th most 5-on-5 ice-time among forwards, didn't play PP or PK minutes. He was coming off an injury sure but he also wasn't very good this season before that too.

Pretty nice home town discount here (in this case home is where the heart is and Duchene's heart is wherever country music is).

I'll be the first to point out Duchene had more points than Tavares this past season. Duchene is a few months younger than JT.

JT should sign for 6-years/$4.75m with deferred money to bring the total contract total to $32m. How can you argue with that? Let's do it!!!

Also, why did Ron Francis pay picks instead of receiving picks. There was no salary retained.

Marchment may be slow and lack playoff success but he's still got a perfectly fine contract for a physical 20 goal, 50 point forward. Even needing cap space I'm actually surprised they couldn't get a little more for him.

Guys like Dumba and Lyubushkin are who are gonna need sweeteners.
