It's definitely about if he wants to stay and for how long he wants to commit. Oilers will definitely give him the max if he wants it, but does he want to commit to them long-term if he decides it's not time to move on?

I would be shocked if he entertained moving. His best man just signed long-term.

It feels like the Leafs where they have struggled to give 6 forwards any meaningful role whatsoever. Bouchard and Nurse taking up $20M hurts.
 
Kypreos has been back 5 mins and is suggesting that if mcdavid doesn’t sign by December then Edmonton should force a trade and demand he give them a list of where he can go.

How is this blowhard respected around the league or respected by anyone?

Respect is a strong word. I'm sure a bunch of people know who he is. I don't know that it goes much further than that.

It's just an opinion, like everyone else on the radio. I don't mind Kyper. His opinions are often dumb, but it can cause opposing discussion. I enjoyed MacLean and Kyper together. They have some great stories from their involvement in the game.
 
Respect is not needed; it's a transaction with someone who has a platform and a known brand name. If an agent or front office or player wants a bit of info out there at a relatively national (but not super official) level, Kypreos is a decent launching point.

SportsNet deliberately keeps one windbag on the panels for all the sensible people to respond to to drive headlines/clicks + discussion.

I don't mind him. I think he's just fueling conversation in the Toronto mkt, especially since the same scenario played out last year with Marner.
