2025 Blue Jays

On a serious note, they have looked a bit more promising than I was anticipating, and I’m a bit more optimistic than I was at the tail end of last season.

But it’s a big season that could define the next few years for the team.

AL East is going to be mad
 
Baseball is dumb but I absolutely hate how it will take a month for the Jays to hit 6 home runs because Atkins has a fetish for defensively players without power
 
We got rid of Yarbrough to keep Lovelady...a guy who throws 83-85...and gets shelled after Scherzer only goes 3 innings.

It was a questionable move at the time and it looks much worse after Lovelady got lit up in his first appearance and has now been DFA'd. Not great.
 
Andrés Giménez has decided if the Jays are going to put him in the cleanup spot in the lineup he's going to act like a cleanup hitter.
 
On another note, have The Athletic not bothered to gt a new Jays reporter?

I was never a huge fan of Kaitlin McGrath's style, but at least she put out regular material and interviews etc

Yeah. Even though some of the performances weren't great, I'll gladly take a split with the O's right now, considering the expected strengths of the two teams. Still a lot to figure out, but we're not even a week into the season. I don't have high expectations of this team, but, I do think they could surprise some people.
 
It still feels like a team that needed another middle of the order bat...and while I get the Scherzer gamble, I think they really screwed up not having a better 6th starter than Yariel.
 
This whole fan apathy towards bichette is very disappointing. And I suppose the team attitude towards him as well (obviously just a guess on my part).

Down the line people will realize that he’s the one that got away.

So the fans' feelings about Bichette are very disappointing and the team's feelings towards him, based on a guess, are also disappointing? I don't mean to single you out in here but your complaints about this team really seem to be subjective and, frankly, rather haphazardly thrown together. Isn't Bichette a fan favourite? And weren't there multiple reports about him not being interested in re-signing in Toronto? I mean he's hitting 2nd and is still the starting shortstop; how has he been mistreated or undervalued?

All I know is that, personally, I'd much rather sign Bichette long-term than give Vladdy anywhere near the preposterous and undeserved contract the latter is asking for, so maybe I'm just not seeing or paying attention to the negativity surrounding Bichette.
