Blues @ Maple Leafs - Oct. 24th, 7:00pm - TSN4, TSN 1050

After Columbus, I was expecting a better period.
Change a few players, most of their coaches and systems, and they're going to have a bumpy first 20 or so games while they shake these changes out.
This might be another one of those nights.
Hopefully, they figure something out for the second.

The one thing I'll say is he's fumbling a lot of pucks this year. Even his first goal this year was him adjusting to a mishandled shot attempt. It's happened a lot so far. He's still getting a lot of really good shots off but he seems to be fighting the puck more than usual
Wrist?

22-8 put together to make line 1 more defensively stout and they turn a standard retrieval into an adventure and goal against.

yeah it's time for Benoit to sit.
I don't hate the 4th line but it's pretty much guaranteed to score 0 goals and I don't love the idea of a line that has a best case scenario of being even.

The Leafs spatial awareness seems off. Two games in a row on the breakaway where Marner and Domi take big wind ups on their wrist shot to easily have their pocket picked

The strategy of slow dump ins with no speed leading to automatic turnovers is certain a strategy

Pretty much every shot taken this period Binnington had clear line of sight. And they’re mostly elevated so there’s minimal rebound opportunity. He has only flubbed Robertson shots.

This is not a fun team to watch, no real physical play, no high flying attack, just a lot of dumping the puck and taking weak writers.

It's so frustrating because they've clearly got performances like Tampa in them, but they just can't sustain that level of effort.

You don't expect them to be all-stars constantly, but to be consistently effective would be nice.

In defense of the team with a new coach it's going to take more than three weeks to establish his system in a way that is ingrained in the team but it's the effort that continues to be a massive issue. Fundamental mistakes

And Knies goes between Tavares and Nylander to start the 3rd

The Leafs seem to be flubbing simple passes in the defensive zone and it leads to them getting hemmed in
