Blues vs. Maple Leafs - Feb. 19th, 1:00pm - SN, TSN 1050

People were all over Nylander saying he was slumping after he signed that contract. How does 10 points in his last 7 games sound?

It doesn?t matter he?s lazy. Now Bertuzzi though, so much effort. So effective.

One's a big ol' root beer float.  The other, a prime cut of sirloin.

Really nice game. Samsonov was good. Rifai looked capable. Bertuzzi looked like...Bertuzzi. Maybe McMann can give him some pointers.

No Rielly, no problem I guess.

You need a hug? And for the last time nobody said Bert was effective. The comment strictly dealt with his effort and that was the reason he escaped some grief from fans compared to Willy who does get lazy at times.

And rightfully so. He had 4 pts in 9 games after signing and 0 pts in 7 of those games. He's putting up the points again and that's a good thing. He's a superstar and hopefully he continues playing at the level he's capable of.

Rifai wears 83 on the Leafs.

Very Knies effort and goal from Line 1. It?s so hard to find the time and space you used to have in lower leagues especially as a rookie. Knies is starting to make his own space and make good on those fleeting opportunities.

Nylander continues to lead the Leafs in SHG, which is very amusing to me, especially because he just stands in the high slot most of the PK time waiting for hapless PPers to drift through his ice like Greek sailors navigating Scylla and Charybdis.

Marner behind the net on the PP with shooters drifting into the slot while everyone looks the wrong way has been my platonic ideal PP set up for years. Nice stick lift by Bertuzzi to give Marner operating room, and easy finish for Matthews when he just drops in from up high like a leopard.

Great day for Dubas-era development stories too: Rifai, McMann, Justin Brazeau (sadly for the Bs) all showing up in NHL minutes.

Good on him and it's great to see. Credit to Keefe for pushing Willy and credit to Willy for pushing himself.
