What is this assumption based on? Is this something that Gretzky, the businessman, has been known to do?

I think it's probably based on Gretzky's time in Phoenix where his former agent got the GM job and, I believe, his brother was their head scout. Although to single out Gretzky for nepotism in an industry rife with it seems unfair.

I know the level of play is different compared the regular season. I get that. But it just seems like the Leafs have a lot of work to do. In the playoffs a team needs four lines running on all cylinders.
We are what, 4 or 5 years into this rebuild/retool/re-just-win-for-gawds-sake.
Shanny has his work cut out for him.

I said it after the press conference (maybe not here but elsewhere) and I will say it again after that Lieweke interview... Nonis is staying.
Also.. wow so in 2 weeks since Shanny was hired no major changes have been made? GASP!

He must be liking what he sees with this group.
But I am sticking with my story that changes will come when the Raptors bow out of the playoffs. They dont want any Leafs related media stealing the spotlight from the Raptors who currently are the darlings of this city.

That is a good possibility too. I could see that, or at least maybe after the 1st round is over.
Timmy said Shanny was having tonnes of 1:1's with players, coaches and even executive assistant types around the whole team. In most cases, 2 weeks is hardly enough time for a new exec to get to know an organization and I think we should generally be enthused by the fact he's taking the time while he has it to understand all he can before pulling the trigger on anything.
