Canadiens @ Leafs - May 27th, 7:00pm - CBC, TSN 1050

Everyone needs to be better, including Jack. 2 softies tonight.
I've said it many times already, Hyman needs to get going. He played 7 mins more then Nylander and that's crazy.

Well, poop. Just a terrible pass at the end there.

Sandin obviously had a rough game. Seems pretty much a certainty Dermott goes back in there, so those mistakes should get cut down. Maybe Foligno might be ready to go by then too.

You want to know why it sucks to be a Leaf fan...because of crap like this.  This team is always on the receiving end of these things.  The Habs have done this before.  Against Boston, that series where Kovalev ran into his own player and hurt his hand.  They came back from 3-1 and won that series.  This doesn't happen for the Leafs.  Their the team that blows the 3-1 series lead or the 4-1 lead with 10 minutes left in 7 games.  The missed high stick call in game 6 in overtime.

At what point does this team succeed?  They've done everything by the book, and they can't beat a team that they had 11 more wins than.

If the score had been the other way around, you know the Leafs would have still lost rather than being the ones that scored in overtime.  This team has not won a playoff round since before my kids were born.  I have a kid that is learning how to drive now.  I just don't get how that much bad luck can fall on one team for so long.  Why can't this team be a Chicago, or be a Pittsburgh, or hell, just be a Washington one year.  Just boggles my mind.

They are also really missing Tavares.

Too many mistakes, we didnt deserve this one.
Sandin will not see ice again this series.
They need to play with a little more passion.

C'mon, save this for when they lost G7 after being up 3-0.  :P :P

..

take a breath, my friend. They still have two more chances to win the series.

This is disappointing but the Habs were better.  It happens.

I'm most concerned about Matthews with 1 goal in 5 games.  He did not look dangerous at all tonight.

I hear you.  It sucks and you?re right.  Any other team takes the momentum into OT and wins.

Sorry, I'm just playing the script in my head.  "Scrappy Habs playing in front of fans for the first time in a year come back against Leafs and force game 7".  Then it's "The totally calm and collected Price delivers game 7 gem to bounce the Leafs".  The Leafs haven't flipped the script and in my mind they had to win tonight, because now we are on the "here we go again" train.

The Leafs beat themselves with dumb turnovers tonight. It's a very Leaf-y thing but also something that hasn't happened much in more recent history. I'm still confident we'll close this out on Saturday.

Now if this goes to game 7 I'm not ashamed to admit I'll be pretty nervous.

Which, while we are on the subject how is it even remotely fair that the Habs get fans for game 6?

I mean on the flipside would it be fair to the Habs if they got punished by not being allowed to have fans just because Ontario's COVID situation is worse than Quebec's?

Some post-game thoughts...

Sandin, if he isn't going to play on PP1, why have him in there instead of Dermott?

Matthews didn't have his best game tonight, hopefully he picks it up next game.

Marner...seems to be over-thinking it, causing him to take too long and run out of time on many chances.

Galchenyuk, man...I thought he played well overall but that brain fart in OT is going to linger. Can't be doing that. Thought the pinch by Bogo was also ill-advised at that point.

I resemble this excellent post.

I don't think that should come into play. NHL should flat out state that no fans allowed at any games between 2 teams. I don't care in a sense that it's only 2500 people but should be the same as it was last year. Once it seems like the 3rd wave is gone then let people in the stands in whatever city.
