Carl Gunnarsson

That's better.

So I figure Franson at another $500K?

Depends in what kind of term he's looking for, but, I'd peg him for around the same as Gunnarsson. Franson put up impressive offensive numbers last season, but, has less of a track record, had a lot more PP time and wasn't really used on the PK.

Excellent deal. I really didn't want a one-year term from arbitration.

Yes, I like this deal also. But I think Franson gets a longer deal and he breaks the 4 million AAV mark.

I see him doing a one-year deal. It's probably in the best interests for both sides. You know what you're gettting with Gunnar. Franson is still a bit of an unknown.

I wouldn't hate a one year deal, but I'd rather they sign him for 3-4. It doesn't account for much, but I think he is going to get even better and think that we'd get have to put out more money, this time next year.

Personally, I agree. I'm very much against bridge contracts for the most part. But I'm not so sure that Leafs management shares our same opinion on Franson. And even if they did, they created a situation where they can't really afford to pay him $4mil right now.

Good deal, just makes things a little bit tight with $6.5M left.

I don't see how we sign Franson and Kadri with that money.  Somethings got to move or Nonis has painted himself into a corner.

I'm pretty sure the season doesn't start tomorrow.

I am a big fan of Gunnar but I think this was a slight overpayment for him.  I had him pegged in the 2.5 range.  After Franson is signed this will make for a very expensive d- core.

When you look up and down this roster and realize that they will be maxed out at the cap, you have to think that some guys are getting majorly overpaid.  This team will be in a dog fight to even make the playoffs and is no where close to a team like Chicago who will have a similar payroll.
