Detroit trades Mantha to Washington

Ok, so I went to NHL.com for the first time this year to find out who's in what division and I still sort of stand by my point. The winners of the Carolina/Tampa/Florida division and the Washington/Pittsburgh/NYI division will be going through some tough hockey.

And the West division isn't as deep but should come down to Colorado and Vegas going toe to toe. The North meanwhile...

Curious how Washington fits Mantha in. Does he ride shotgun with Ovechkin and Kuznetzov? Do they reunite Ovie and Backstrom, with Mantha as the 3rd wheel? Do they put him on the 2nd line with Backstrom to layer the attack more? Going to be interesting.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a pretty big overpay? What does Mantha do that Vrana doesn't already?

Mantha provides some cost certainty going forward. Vrana doesn't right now. Still, the difference doesn't feel like 1st and 2nd round picks, but there's also something in there for taking on Panik's contract.

Also, all due respect to Dylan Larkin, Vrana's done it on a much stronger team.

Wait...waht?

Larkin still plays for Detroit, right? I haven't missed something else, have I?
