Are you 729 years old? 11 years is a pretty long time for us mortals.

Rumours flying around the trade of the #1 overall pick. I am handicapping it 80% chance the pick @FlaPanthers is moved. #winnowmode is on

Considering this will only be the 53rd draft in NHL history, 11 years is a very significant amount of time. Also, it has only been traded on leading up to the draft or on draft day on 5 occasions, and only once (1975) to a team outside the top 3. Lawton is the only person I've seen who categorizes the possibility of the 1st overall pick being traded as good. Everyone else seems to believe it's unlikely.

My research team currently has the pick staying with Florida. A 63% chance that happens.

We move up, we move down or we keep the pick.
Being a Leaf's fan all my considerable life (considerable in age that is...) I admit I am intrigued by how the Leafs will
screw this one up.

I wouldn't. While I think Ho-Sang is going to be a good player, I think the players available to the Leafs at 8 will be better, and quality is more important than quantity.

You forgot about the possibility of trading the pick away completely.

I wouldn't call it a negotiation strategy, at all. It may be a pretty empty statement, but, at this point, all the other GMs are well aware of what his real intentions are, and a comment like this isn't going to change that. This is something that's more about tempering the expectations of the fans and the media than anything to do with negotiations.
