Flames @ Leafs - Apr. 13th, 7:30pm - SNO, TSN 1050

The strategic approach to 3 on 3 needs a little more attention on the defensive play/strategy to say the least, that's two in a row where Matthew's gets beat by his guy .

Keefe starts those 3 every time. They are great offensively but in 3 on 3 they seem to ease up. Too easy there for the Flames. Oh well agree with LK F88k the Habs.

I recall people being angry when he started Tavares and Nylander against the oilers...and McDavid won the game.  Can?t win either way

Matthews needed to stay with Gaudreau there, Rielly had Giordano.
True enough but Rielly over committed to Gio and didn't stop the pass.
Still all started with a brutal decision by Marner.

This was another game where I?m just left meh with both Thornton and Simmonds.  Robertson was not really noticeable but he was playing with a non-NHL player and had minimal minutes.  Hard to show anything when you don?t get an opportunity

Yep. He had one shift in the 3rd after the 4 min PP I think, where he looked dangerous. The guy is a scorer and playmaker, he should be given some time with good linemates just to see what he can do.

Lol when I saw it was a 4 min PP I took Lupo out for a walk hoping to come back and see they scored at least 1. What a joke

Thornton was fine and a contributor to the first goal. Simmonds looks really off. Robertson looks decent but needs to get moved up the lineup. Maybe when Willy comes back he goes with them and Hyman to the third line. We'll see but I imagine Keefe will be juggling the lines with all the extras.

When Willy is back and Foligno arrives I doubt Robertson will be in the lineup.

Boys are just mailing it in until the new arrivals join?  Why was Spezza scratched and not Thornton or Engvall or Simmonds? Sabourin?  And yeah, watch some tapes from when the PP worked. This is getting ridiculous. Let the kid have a go on the top powerplay unit.

I'm not talking then, I'm talking next game. Foligno isn't here for at least 3 games.

They'll all get a turn at missing a game especially when the new guys show up.

Thank you for posting that because I totally agree. As much as Keefe seems to always start them sure they've won some for us but we've lost some because of their lackadaisical defending. Again I blame that on coaching. If you're not going to be defensively responsible then you're not going to see the ice. Bad enough Marner gave up the puck on a dumb decision oh well but get back and take your man. That was too easy for Lindholm and Gaudreau.

Fair enough...I have seen no evidence that Robertson will be given a serious opportunity higher in the lineup if everyone is healthy and available. He'll probably sit out once Willy is back, whether Foligno is here or not.

Oh well we got a point and I'm glad Calgary got 2.
They ain't catching the Habs. Maybe if they play some grueling games against them and put a few bruises on Habs players it helps the Leafs come playoffs
