Flames @ Leafs - Feb. 22nd, 7:00pm - TSN4, TSN 1050

Muzzin could probably use a maintenance day TBH. He's been blocking shots, getting hit repeatedly by guys like Anderson, and now a stick in the mush.

Days, plural, I meant to say.  :P

And bummer about Sandin.  But this is also Lehtonen's chance to step up.

I don't know how the Flames are so bad. That's not a bad looking lineup on paper.

They're basically a 1.5 line team, with a D corps that, outside of the top pairing, isn't great at moving the puck. Markstrom has been good enough (not great, but not bad) in net, while Rittich has been awful. Basically, it boils down to them being an entirely average team - which would also have them hovering around .500.

Who is Noah Banks? Tkachuk for Nylander is very intriguing.

He's just a random Leaf fan, like many others, who wants to trade Nylander, who is not good enough to be a core player, for multiple core piece(s) package from either Nashville or Calgary.

The actual interesting part is that Elliotte Friedman is hearing that Matthew Tkachuk is sad that his teammates don't want to stir poop with him.

Tkachuk for Nylander is one of the only intriguing Will Ny trade suggestions I've seen. Similar age, similar production, similar cap hit (though, Nylander has a couple extra years on his contract), but very different styles of play. I'm not sure if I'd pull the trigger, but I'd definitely have to think long and hard before making a decision it.

Would also add an interesting new layer to Toronto-Ottawa games. Tkachuk vs Tkachuk would be entertaining.

I like how long our core is currently locked in for. Tkachuk's term is a lot shorter. I do love power forwards though. Tkachuk is probably the best "power forward" in the league.

I don't think that Tkachuk's schtick would sit well with this current Leafs group.

Matthews knows him well from the USNTDP, and Marner won a Memorial Cup with him on the opposite wing (with big lefty shooter Christian Dvorak centring), so it's not completely out to lunch to salivate over a Tkachuk-Matthews-Marner combo.

Either Matthew or Brady is on my pretty short list of somewhat palatable Nylander trades. Eichel and McDavid and MacKinnon are also on this list in slightly harder to reach levels lol. They are all going to be more expensive.

Honestly, if Nylander had a Tkachuk bro on the opposite wing, it'd be a very very lovely match of their playstyles.

The thing about knuckleheads like Tkachuk is that they can be very useful in the playoffs provided they know when to pick their spots. We all saw what happened with Kadri who didn't always know that.

The only reason Calgary would even think about trading him is if they thought he really didn't get that so trading for him would then be a fairly big risk. That said, I think the current Leafs' leadership group is probably better suited to deal with him than Calgary's.

Well I certainly wouldn't mind prying Tom Wilson out of Washington. Nylander on the other side of Ovie would be pretty nice and he'd be free to play outside of the spotlight of Toronto. Has an extra year on his deal too.

I would probably make that trade. I would probably do it for Forsberg too.

It might make sense, but on a purely emotional level, I'd rather keep Nylander over Tkachuk, simply because Nylander plays something much closer to what I value as a fan of the game of hockey.

I'm not one of those fans that can overlook dirtbag behaviour just because he puts on a sweater of the home team.

I wouldn't give up Nylander for Wilson. He's nowhere near the same level.

Brady doesn't make the cut for me, yet. He hasn't shown the same talent level as his brother, and if I'm trading Nylander, I'm trading him out of the division beyond this season.+

It certainly doesn't feel like he has 14 pts in 19 games. It's just so damn hard to comprehend what the hell is going on with him and Tavares right now? They need to get going even strength.
